Mike Fabarez: Unfortunately, there are many people these days that believe that God's grace and our personal effort are mutually exclusive. This misunderstanding comes when we confuse justification, which we can never earn, with sanctification, that process where we grow up in Christ.
Unfortunately, there's been a misapplication of the doctrine of grace regarding our salvation to lead some people to a kind of apathy, a kind of passiveness in their pursuit of holiness. See, God's unearned grace doesn't absolve us of that responsibility to work. Rather, it's because of the cross and the indwelling Holy Spirit that we have the power now to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions. So, let's commit ourselves to making every effort to add to our faith, to do what God has asked us to do every single day.
