Mike Fabarez: There's a little verse tucked away in the Old Testament that reveals the proper attitude that we should have toward a group that's often ignored. Consider Leviticus 19:32 that says, "Rise in the presence of the aged and show respect for the elderly."
Many would consider respecting our elders as stodgy formalism or some outdated traditionalism. But according to Leviticus 19, God wants us to treat the elderly among us with esteem and respect. The many years of life experience and accumulated wisdom for the aged should be cause for our sincere expressions of reverence.
So the next time a senior walks into your presence, may God's value of the aged prompt you to sincerely convey your kindness and admiration.
