Focal Point Weekly Devotional
Start your week of with this 1 minute devotional from Pastor Mike Fabarez of Focal Point Radio Ministries.
Guest (Male): Here's Mike Fabarez, Bible teacher on Focal Point.
Mike Fabarez: The familiar verse in the New Testament, 1 John 1:9, it tells us to confess our sins. Many think that means to simply say "I'm sorry" to God. But the Greek word that translates confess is made up of two words, one means the same and the other means to speak. The idea is that when we confess our sins, we're saying the same thing that God would say about our sins.
And of course, He sees it as detestable, grievous, wicked, offensive, and even nauseating, the Bible tells us. So let's not mistake a half-hearted "I'm sorry" for biblical confession. True biblical repentance always sees our sins for what they are. It agrees with God that our behavior is egregious.
It produces a godly sorrow and alarm, even a readiness to see justice done in our own lives. And when practiced correctly, it brings reconciliation and peace and a renewed desire to do what is right.
Guest (Male): That's Mike Fabarez, Bible teacher on Focal Point. Listen each weekday to Pastor Mike's half-hour teaching program heard on this station.
