Mike Fabarez: We read way back in 2 Kings chapter 10 how the newly inaugurated King Jehu set up a sting operation. He called together all the people that wanted to serve Baal. The Israelites didn't know that Jehu was actually fed up with the nation's apostasy and service to Baal. He was setting a trap for them. See, those who stood with the cultural elite, they were all summarily executed.
But the holdouts who refused to come to the invitation to worship Baal that King Jehu had called them to, they were taking a risky stand for the Lord with little concern for their own safety. But ultimately, it was that group that was saved. What about us? Are we resistors or conformers? Let's courageously stand with the Lord and His word. Let's risk everything to be faithful despite the cultural pressure we might have to conform.
