Mike Fabarez: It should go without saying that the wise person is one who's open to reason. That's the opposite of the person who says, "My mind is made up, so don't bother me with the facts."
Proverbs 9:7-9 reminds us that whoever corrects a scoffer gets himself abuse, and he who reproves a wicked man incurs injury. But reprove a wise man and he will love you. Give instruction to a wise man and he will be still wiser. Teach a righteous man and he will increase in learning.
The wise person is one who is open to correction, to being reproved or rebuked, and all that subsequent change that goes with it. May we all be open to the reasonable correction that is always available to us but so often refused.
