Focal Point Weekly Devotional
Start your week of with this 1 minute devotional from Pastor Mike Fabarez of Focal Point Radio Ministries.
Guest (Male): Here's Mike Fabarez, Bible teacher on Focal Point.
Mike Fabarez: I think it's very safe to say for everybody, we all enjoy a good laugh, but sometimes our humor can actually impede our sanctification. For instance, we certainly shouldn't use humor as some kind of defensive layer to keep people from knowing who we really are. Scripture certainly speaks of that; we need to be real people.
Or making jokes at the expense of other people. As Proverbs 26 says, it's like throwing around flaming arrows that sting and injure people just to get a few laughs. This kind of damaging behavior has no place in the believer's life. And certainly, let's not mimic the world's descent into some kind of crude and lewd, vulgar joking. That has no place in the Christian life. Christianity certainly is not adverse to laughter and humor, but we are warned that all comedy is not created equal.
