Mike Fabarez: Imagine Daniel in the Old Testament, trapped in Babylon, a foreign land against his will, barred from his homeland. Well, we really don't have to imagine. The Bible says in 1 Peter chapter 2, verse 11 that all of us as Christians are in exile. We're surrounded with man-made rules and customs and expectations that really stand in stark contrast to what God expects from us.
As Christians, we've got to get used to standing alone, even when we're openly mocked because we don't fall in line with the prevailing influences of our culture. This world's not our home; you've got to remember that. We can't expect to be perfectly comfortable here. While living in this temporary exile, let's fix our eyes on the God that we serve, and like Daniel in Babylon, let's stand resolute in this foreign kingdom as we await the arrival of our King.
