Not only are Christian parents forced to raise their kids in a culture that denies the traditional values of their faith, but also in one that strongly opposes them at every turn. On today’s edition of Family Talk, Dr. Tim Clinton and his guest, author Dan Seaborn, address this concern by breaking down Dan’s recent book, Winning at Home. Seaborn stresses the need for parents to have a solid foundation in Christ to support their parenting efforts, even when they are at their wits’ end.

On today's edition of Family Talk, author John Rosemond shares tips from his book, Parenting by The Book: Biblical Wisdom for Raising Your Child. When kids misbehave, he recommends the consequence of "kicking them out of the Garden of Eden." When the child comes home from school, his room is stripped bare to the essentials. No toys. No music. And he's going to live this way until his attitude improves, and remains improved for at least a month. It's showing confidence in your authority.

In the 1950s, the family structure was parent-centered. But since the 1970s, the family structure has been child-centered. On today's edition of Family Talk, Dr. James Dobson and his guest, John Rosemond, explain how this change in focus has been a disaster. The author of Parenting by The Book: Biblical Wisdom for Raising Your Child, Rosemond throws frazzled parents a lifeline, encouraging them to return to a biblical method for raising and disciplining their kids that both instills respect and inspires obedience. Indeed, Rosemond cites studies that reveal that the happiest kids are the ones who are well-behaved.

When Julia Jeffress Sadler was told she was pregnant with triplets, she was terrified! She had already endured the pain of three miscarriages the previous year and was worried that something could happen. On today’s edition of Family Talk, Julia reveals that Psalm 30, verse 9 became her prayer during that season. The author of Pray Big Things echoed King David’s worry. "What is gained if I am silenced, if I go down to the pit? Will the dust praise You? Will it proclaim Your faithfulness?" After initially going into labor at 23 weeks and spending 49 days on bedrest, Julia successfully delivered her three healthy babies.

After suffering three miscarriages within one year, Julia Jeffress Sadler and her husband, Ryan, were devastated. In fact, she told God that she was angry with Him for allowing that pain in her life. On today’s edition of Family Talk, the daughter of Pastor Robert Jeffress shares with Dr. Tim Clinton the lessons she learned as described in her book, Pray Big Things. After praying for three biological children and multiples, the Lord answered both prayers with triplets! Like Joseph in the Bible, Julia urges us to never give up on our God-given dreams, despite the struggles and suffering along the way.

On today's edition of Family Talk, Dr. James Dobson and co-host Dr. Tim Clinton share cherished Christmas memories. Dr. Tim Clinton recalls how touched neighbors were when their family rang the doorbell, sang Christmas carols, and delivered fruit baskets on Christmas Eve, while Dr. Dobson remembers how inviting a widow from church, Mamie, was the highlight of the Dobson's Christmas Eve celebration one special year. She spent hours sharing photo albums and treasured memories of her time with her late husband, with whom she served as missionary in the Virgin Islands. In the midst of all the festivities, don't lose sight of reaching out to others in the name of Christ to bless them.

According to Dave Donaldson and Wendell Vinson, the CEO and President of the CityServe International, the ability to mobilize local churches to provide resources to people in need allows for an open door to share the love of Jesus. On today’s edition of Family Talk, Dr. Tim Clinton continues his conversation with Dave and Wendell, who highlight the mission of CityServe and the value of stepping up and taking initiative in serving the community. Through the Farmers to Families program and Operation Border Blessing, CityServe has been able to assist churches nationwide and be a distribution anchor to neighborhoods. 1 Peter 4:10 says, “Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.”

Theologian A.W. Tozer once said, “A scared world needs a fearless church.” When Russia attacked Ukraine in February 2022, fear was rampant. Five million refugees escaped into nearby countries, while another seven million Ukrainians were displaced. On today’s edition of Family Talk, Dave Donaldson and Wendell Vinson, the CEO and President of CityServe International, respectively, proclaim what Satan meant for great harm, God is using for His glory. Over the last few months, CityServe has equipped 1,800 Ukrainian churches and another 1,000 churches in neighboring countries with food and supplies. The ultimate mission is to lovingly care for people and unapologetically proclaim the gospel.

For a Christian, Thanksgiving should be a lot more than just food, family, and football. On today's special edition of Family Talk, Pastor Chuck Swindoll, in a timeless sermon on the topic gratitude, reflects on Psalm 103, in which King David thanks God for pardoning his sin, redeeming his life from the pit, and crowning him with love and compassion. The hymn "It Is Well with My Soul" reveals why we are so grateful. "My sin, not in part but the whole; Is nailed to the cross, and I bear it no more; Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, O my soul!" That's true redemption indeed!
