Today we’ll look at several verses of chapter two. Luke, the author of Acts, describes one of the most amazing events in human history - the descending of the Holy Spirit. As you might imagine, the people who witnessed this miraculous event were stunned and amazed.

Defense Lawyers are well known for being dramatic and even sometimes over the top emotionally as they try to help their client. Here in Acts chapter seven, we see Steven acting as his own defense lawyer, and his words are quite remarkable.

Steven is a model we all should follow when it comes to persecution. He understood the Word, was able to defend his beliefs and glorified his Lord. Imagine what would happen if a crisis arose somewhere in the world, and the president’s advisors couldn’t find him because he was vacuuming the carpets in the dining room! That wouldn’t happen because the authority to clean carpets has been delegated to someone else. In the church, delegation of authority is important as well. the pastor cannot do everything! This book written by Luke tells us about the working of God through the Word of God in the hearts of the people of God. And there were many challenges as the church begins - among them, some widows being neglected. This resulted in some hurt feelings and the need for the Apostles to deal with the problem in a straight forward manner, while keeping their own priorities in line. Our reference is in chapter six of the book of Acts.

When the Holy Spirit came upon the hundred and twenty disciples, there were many who were amazed. But there were some who thought these spirit-filled people had had a little too much wine to drink! After all, they were being heard by the crowd in several different languages at the same time!

Now, pastor Al isn’t going to get into the numbers or the potential cures, or the steps we need to take to keep healthy, but he will share some ways we can deal with the crisis from a spiritual point of view.
