We are currently enjoying a verse by verse journey through the book of Acts, and today we are looking at chapter ten. Of all the occurrences in the book of Acts, what happens in chapter ten is among the most significant. The gentiles are hearing the gospel message for the first time. Now, as you might imagine, some of the Jews were not happy about this.

One of the best lessons we learn by looking at the early church is that Christians come in all shapes and sizes. The gospel message is for everyone! Our text today is Acts chapter ten, and pastor Al has given this message a most appropriate title - “Uncommon Commonality”!.

In Acts chapter nine, we have an example of what God will do to get someone’s attention. The way God gets hold of our lives varies, because we are all different. Some are more dramatic than others. The Lord knows what we need, and He knew what Paul needed to see and hear. How gracious for God to meet Paul in the way He did.

Today, Pastor Al will explore perhaps the most famous conversion in the history of the Church. In Acts chapter nine we read the account of the conversion of Saul of Tarsus to Paul the Apostle. Every conversion is a miracle, but some seem more miraculous than others, or at least more surprising. You’ll be encouraged as you read Saul’s story - for if God can save Saul he can save anyone!

Today we make our way over to Acts chapter eight and observe a classic example of what’s been called a divine appointment. Philip is directed by the Lord to go to a man who was serious about searching for God and just happened to be reading the Scripture. But this man needed someone to help him understand it. What a set up!

God is not only interested in changing us for the better and fitting us for eternity, but also influencing those around us. Today, we’ll see one of the ways the Lord does that. In Acts chapter eight, Philip is directed by the Lord to leave a thriving ministry to reach just one man. Philip’s obedience in following the Lord’s leading is inspiring.

Previous cases are often used to persuade juries and judges that a precedent has been set. Steven’s defense in Acts chapter seven is comprised of a good deal of references to the Old Testament, and offers us a refresher course on some of the great men of the Bible.
