Some words on commitment to ourselves and our God are coming up today on The Dwelling Place, with pastor Al Pittman. Today our series in the Psalms continues with a study in Psalms ninety-one. This Psalm reminds us of the comfort and security to be found when we abide in God’s love. Doesn’t that sound like a great way to live?

We are continuing a series in the Psalm today and we will concentrate our time in Psalm ninety-one. There are some very specific ways we can offer worship. We should worship God joyfully, knowing that a joyful worshiper is pleasing to Him. We can also serve the Lord gladly, knowing that He has all things in His control.

Today on The Dwelling Place we’ll discover the way of blessing through the path of brokenness.  Is your desire to be used of God?  Do you desire the fullness of God’s victory in your life?  It all starts with brokenness, and today pastor Al Pittman will show us what brokenness looks like through the Psalmist’s beautiful expression of trust “He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust”.

God is always at work in the midst of our circumstances - even when it doesn’t seem like He is. When Paul and Barnabas had a disagreement in Acts fifteen, they departed from each other and went their separate ways. At first glance, this seems like a very unfortunate incident - until you realize that God suddenly had two missionary teams spreading the Gospel instead of just one.

Anyone who’s been a Christian for any length of time knows that a relationship with God does not mean a sudden end to life’s problems. As a matter of fact, we know that sometimes quite the opposite is true. Trials and afflictions come our way, but how do we deal with them?  Today we’ll again open our Bibles to the book of Psalms, as we look at Psalm eighty-nine, beginning in verse thirty-four.

Pastor Al Pittman will continue his verse by verse series through the Psalms today, with another look at Psalm eighty-nine.  Here we see the Psalmist remembering God’s covenant with King David, and a sorrow over lost blessings.  Maybe as we come to you today, you feel as though there is little to nothing to be thankful for.  Your life is a mess, people are being cruel to you, your job is being threatened, and you’re in debt up to your ears.  Well, the good news is that in Christ there is something to be thankful for.

Uncertain feelings and fears about the future, relationship problems, money problems, these lead to depression for many people. And if you’re one of them, pastor Al has some encouraging words for you today from Psalm eighty-nine.
