In Romans chapter fourteen we’ve learned lately about our relationship to other believers in matters of secondary importance.  Things that fall into the realm of Christian liberty.  It could be the music we listen to, or entertainment, the length of your hair, the food we eat, alcohol, or even smoking.  It’s not necessary for all Christians to agree on these issues, but they often are the center of great conflict and disagreement.  So let’s turn to Romans fourteen and see how to be pleasing to the Lord, and loving toward others.

The New Testament knows nothing of isolated believers; wherever you find Christians you find them together.  But that can create some difficulties because of our differences.  Not on essentials but non essentials. Someone once described it as “majoring on the minors”. Pastor Al will be in Romans chapter fourteen.

Today on The Dwelling Place, pastor Al Pittman heads back to Romans thirteen. It’s there we’re commanded to get rid of the things that hinder our walk and witness of the Lord Jesus.  The list of things that distract us is practically endless, and it seems to be growing every day. We need to be living in light of the promised soon return of Jesus. It’s time to wake up, to clean up and to grow up!

The Church in Rome had dosed off, in a manner of speaking, so the apostle Paul sends a letter and sounds the alarm. Too many Christians today are like the church in Rome - lackadaisical in their walk with God, and not fine tuning their anticipation of the Lord’s return.

Well maybe as you look at what’s going on in the White House, or in your State or Local Government you’re far from pleased.  Maybe you’re wondering what your response should be to the government that’s in place?   Well today we enter into a discussion about the Christian and government.  We arrive at chapter thirteen of Romans on this day, as we continue making our way verse by verse through this remarkable epistle.  Pastor Al Pittman will show us how we are to live under any government, and what our response to it is to be.

With all the disharmony in the world and even in the Church - is there any answer? Can we live in harmony? We certainly can, but only by the power of God’s love. So what gets in the way of us exploiting God’s power to love one another? For starters pride hinders the kind of love that’s required. For love is not partial. Today’s message from pastor Al is so vitally important, because as we look around us, we can see a world that is seriously lacking in brotherly love.

Last time we were together we covered a good portion of chapter twelve, and we were encouraged to be a healthy body of believers.  Right on the heels of that admonition, the apostle Paul goes on to speak about loving without hypocrisy, and abhorring what is evil.  Pastor Al will show us today just how important it is that we displayed Godly love to not only one another, but to those who persecute us as well.

We’ve been studying the Book of Romans lately and we’ll be zeroing in on chapter twelve today. In this chapter, Paul not only teaches us how to effectively live out our faith in a world that is often hostile to the Gospel message, but he also provides us with some great insight into how to interact with one another as fellow believers in the body of Christ.

Unfortunately, when the first trial comes - as they most certainly will - the new believer often finds discouragement and feelings of abandonment. On today’s Dwelling Place, we’ll see the apostle Paul working to dispel this notion in the Book of Romans.
