Some have said that there are two things you should never discuss with people: Religion and politics. Well, Solomon certainly didn’t consider those subjects too hot to handle, and of course neither does God. Today we consider our relationship to those in authority. Should we support them no matter what, or is there a point in which we draw the line and disobey?

We’re currently enjoying a series of messages in Ecclesiastes. It’s instructive for us to understand where the writer of this book was coming from. Solomon was a rich and important man, yet he wondered out loud what the point of life really was. He was confused, lonely, empty - much like many people today. We’re going to look at Ecclesiastes chapter seven today as we explore several suggestions guaranteed to improve your life!

Today we’ll continue pastor Al’s verse by verse study through the Old Testament book of Ecclesiastes. In chapter six, Solomon explores the futility of life - that is, the futility of wrapping our happiness around material things. Can we really find happiness and fulfillment in cars, homes and bags of money?

Our lives revolve around time. Could you imagine trying to navigate through life without it? When would we arrive at work, or know when to meet someone, or schedule an appointment without the time? God is also very concerned about time, and as we’ll see today there is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven.

As we look around it might be easy for us to conclude that things are spinning out of control, and wonder if God is really in control! So is He? Ecclesiastes makes it clear that God is sovereign and everything under His control has its season. God’s timing is perfect - ours isn’t. So shouldn’t we try to exercise patience and wait for God to act in our lives and show us the way?
