One of the best lessons we learn by looking at the early church is that Christians come in all shapes and sizes. The gospel message is for everyone! Our text today is Acts chapter ten, and pastor Al has given this message a most appropriate title - “Uncommon Commonality”!

Pastor Al Pittman continues his series through Ecclesiastes today, and we’ll join him in just a moment in chapter eight.  In this chapter, Solomon talks about dealing with the authorities in our lives. We all have them. Some are nice, and some …. well not so much. How should we treat them?

It’s been said that there are two things you should never discuss with people: Religion and politics.  Well, Solomon certainly didn’t consider those subjects too hot to handle, and of course neither does God.  Today we consider our relationship to those in authority.

Today we’ll continue Al’s verse by verse study through the Old Testament book of Ecclesiastes. In chapter six, Solomon explores the futility of life - that is, the futility of wrapping one's happiness around material things. Can we really find happiness and fulfillment in cars, homes and bags of money?

In the section of the book of Acts we are currently studying, we are witnessing some of the great men of the bible going out and sharing the gospel message with people who had never heard the message before. Paul has just been converted on the road to Damascus. What followed was an amazing display of the power of the Holy Spirit.

Today we turn to Ecclesiastes six with pastor Al Pittman. If a life is not centered on the pursuit of God... we’ll only have misery to look forward to. However, when our chief aim is to please the Lord and make Him the passion of our life, we’ll have a satisfied soul. A lot of people are seeking satisfaction in all the wrong places today.

Today we’ll again be in Ecclesiastes chapter four, and learn how two are better than one!  We need each other, and so there’s really no need for isolationists in this world. Join us as we turn things over to pastor Al for these words about the importance of friendship - and who our best friend really is!

About Al Pittman

Al was born in Panama City, Florida in 1955. His father was a career soldier, so the family traveled extensively. In 1973, when Al was seventeen years old, the family returned from a tour in Germany and settled in Colorado Springs. Soon after, Al realized God’s call on  his life and began serving in the music ministry as a bass guitarist with a Christian band  called, “The Rays of Light.” It was during this time that Al met Norma, and they were married on July 19, 1975.

Al attended Nazarene Bible College in Colorado Springs, graduating in 1977 with a degree in Biblical Studies. In 1991 Al and his family moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico, and two years later he joined the staff of Calvary Chapel Albuquerque as an assistant pastor and co-worship leader. In the spring of 1997 the Lord called Al and his family back to Colorado Springs to pastor Calvary Worship Center. In 2006, Al earned his Master’s degree and in 2012 he earned his Doctorate degree in Ministry from Trinity Southwest University in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Al and Norma are the proud parents of three children, Renee, Nathan and Reggie, as well as proud grandparents. They covet your prayers for their family and ministry as they endeavor to live a life pleasing to the Father.
