A Cry For Help, Part 1

If you’re a regular listener, you know that we have spent considerable time this year going verse by verse through the Psalms. It’s been an incredible journey, and today, Pastor Al Pittman will be opening Psalms143, where the Psalmist David cries out to the Lord for help once again.

Our first reaction when we face difficulty is to try and fight back with our own strength. That’s doesn’t make a lot of sense if we consider how powerful God is! We’ll be continuing pastor Al Pittman’ study of the Psalms today, and we pick it up at the beginning of Psalm 142.

Today we open our bibles to Psalm 141. King David wrote this Psalm at a difficult time in his life. Yet, his prayer here is that the Lord would make him humble. Humility is a dying commodity today, isn’t it? But God honors humility in His children. Let’s get a little serving of humble pie today, shall we?

Today we will look at Psalm 140, and if I had to describe what David is getting at in this Psalm, I would say “attitude adjustment”. As Christians, we should be different than the world - and the world should notice the difference. We should represent our faith in Christ is tangible ways.

Today, pastor Al Pittman is going to share some words that will really help if you’re a little down-in-the-dumps. We are studying Psalm 139 today, and not only does this Psalm express great love and worship for God, but it also reminds us of how much God loves each one of us. He knew you before you were born! He knows every hair on your head!

Last time, pastor Al began a message in Psalm 139. Now, if you’re not too familiar with the bible, you should know that this Psalm is one of the best loved chapters in all of God’s word. In fact, with the exception of the twenty-third Psalm, this Psalm may indeed be the most popular piece of poetry in the Old Testament.

Today we are going to study one of the greatest chapters in the bible - Psalm 139. Many a worship hymn has been written based on these wonderful words penned by King David. It’s all about the greatness of God, and how much He loves us. I don’t know about you, but I never tire of hearing how much God loves me! And I want to urge you to stay tuned at the end of today’s message, as we will be bringing you a special interview with pastor Al, as he shares the details and motivation for writing his brand new book based on the book of Revelation called “Earth’s Final Chapter”.

Today, pastor Al Pittman will examine Psalms 136 through 139. Sounds like a lot to cover in one program, but several of these Psalms are quite short in length, but not in meaning! I think you’ll agree after today’s study that when it comes to the Psalms, quantity is not important, but quality certainly is!
