Why God Meets You in Your Lowest Moments
“Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted” (Matthew 5:4). As water flows downhill, so the Holy Spirit often comes to us most strongly in our lowest moments. When you are mourning, bring everything to God, and prepare to be comforted.

Rabbi K.A. Schneider: One of the beatitudes in the Sermon on the Mount says that Jesus will comfort those that mourn. I focused previously on this concept of mourning and how that could be a good thing. I want to focus right now with you on this concept of being comforted and being made divinely happy by the presence of God's Spirit in your life.
You've heard it said before that water flows to the lowest place. Jesus said, "Blessed are those that mourn, for they shall be comforted." So how does this apply to water flowing to the lowest place? When you're mourning, you're sad. When you're mourning, you're hurting. When you're mourning, you need God's help, you need God's presence, and you need God's peace.
In that place where you're taking your mourning to the Lord, asking Him for help, the result is that the Comforter—Jesus said, "I'm going to send you a Comforter, the Holy Spirit"—the Comforter will come and minister to you. Have you found in your life sometimes when you go through difficult times, sad times, or maybe the loss of a loved one, that the presence of the Holy Spirit is the strongest and sweetest?
Both things are happening at the same time: there's a mourning that's going on, but on the other hand, there's a divine impartation of the presence of God that's coming into your life through the Holy Spirit. So beloved, the point is, bring everything to Hashem and don't be afraid to mourn because in that place, God is going to meet you. He'll never leave you or forsake you. He's with you always, even to the end.
