The Snare of Competition - and How to Break Free

“So then we pursue the things which make for peace and the building up of one another” (Romans 14:19).

Guest (Female): Welcome to Seeds of Revelation. Today's short devotional is presented by Cynthia Schneider.

Cynthia Schneider: The other day I was playing a game with my grandchild, a ten-year-old grandson, and he's just precious, but he loves to play games and so we play these games. But when he loses, he hates to lose. At the end of the game, if he doesn't win, he just bursts into tears.

If you and I as adults are honest with ourselves, we feel the same way on the inside. It's a very competitive world. They call it a dog-eat-dog world. And we feel that. We feel this competition that we've got to be better than the other person, or just as good as the other person. Otherwise, there are these voices that speak to us negativity towards ourselves, saying that we're not as good as other people, you're a loser, or whatever it would be.

These are the things that God wants to remove from our heart. And so my word for today is, don't take the bait of Satan. Don't take the bait of Satan that you have to win in every situation. That is not the road to victory.

I want you to picture, in contrast to the world that we live in, where we have all kind of sports and activities and everyone's trying to beat each other. In contrast, I want you to picture what heaven, what you picture heaven's going to be like. The heaven that Father God has described in the scriptures, that Yeshua has shared with us.

Do you think that we're going to be trying to edge each other out and trying to beat each other? I don't see heaven like that. I see heaven where we are a body of Messiah. We are Father's children. We are in the same family and that we are pulling for each other.

They say that the saints in heaven are pulling for us right now, that their prayers are going, that we're encouraging each other. And this is what I want you to shift to. I want you to shift to thinking in encouraging one another. Just put down the flesh that thinks that the only way you're going to feel good about yourself is if you win and you do better than somebody else. Put that down.

Just try it out. Try putting it down and looking to encourage somebody else to do well. I got practice in this when I was playing a game of Yahtzee with Rabbi. You're trying to win, and I shifted, and I thought, "No, I'm going to pull for Rabbi and hope he rolls a full house or that he rolls really good dice that he can get a high score in Yahtzee." And when I did that, I felt so good.

I want to encourage you. Shift to encourage one another. In Romans chapter 14 and verse 19: "So then we pursue the things which make for peace and the building up of one another." Encourage and spur each other on, and you'll feel peace and the other people around you will feel the joy that you feel.

About Rabbi K.A. Schneider

Messianic Rabbi K.A. Schneider, a Jewish believer in Jesus and end-times messenger of the LORD, delivers the Word of the LORD with  true passion of the Holy Spirit.  At the age of 20 years old, the LORD appeared to him, supernaturally, as Jesus, the Messiah.  He has since pastored, traveled as an evangelist, and more recently, served as rabbi of a messianic synagogue.

Rabbi K.A. Schneider imparts revelation of Jesus’ Jewish heritage and His fulfillment of  messianic prophecy.  Questions of how the Old and New Testaments tie together, and how Yeshua completes the unfolding plan of The Almighty Yahweh, are answered with exceptional clarity.

Central to the LORD’s plan is Israel and the Jewish people.  Romans 11:11 explains that the Gentile believer has been chosen by God to bring the witness of the LORD to the Jewish people.  As this message of Yeshua is brought back to, and received by, the Jewish people, they will say, “Baruch Haba B’Shem Adonai” – “Blessed is He who comes in the Name of the LORD!” and in so doing, usher in Yeshua’s return (Matthew 23:39).

Through understanding the Old Testament and its prophetic nature, with Yeshua as its fulfillment, the viewer’s faith is strengthened, increased relationship and intimacy with the LORD is discovered, and an end-times vision of life is crystallized.  “Discovering The Jewish Jesus” is an end-times ministry, strengthening the church and calling her to be a readied bride for the return of the Bridegroom, Yeshua Ha Mashiach (Jesus The Messiah).
