Who Invented the Decimal Point?

Matthew 5:11: "Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake."

Many evolutionists and atheists have fooled themselves into thinking that those who believe in God are incapable of making important contributions in the fields of math and science. Today we're going to take a look at just a few individuals to prove how false that claim really is.

Though you may not know who John Napier is, it was this 17th century mathematician who invented something you do know about – the decimal point. As Don DeYoung points out in his book Pioneer Explorers of Intelligent Design, Napier also "invented logarithms which led to the development of the slide rule." Napier didn't spend all his time dealing with numbers, however. In 1593, he published a commentary on the Bible's book of Revelation.

Then there's Leopold Kronecker, the son of Jewish parents who made important contributions to the theory of algebra, elliptical functions and calculus. After his six children embraced the Christian faith, he converted from Judaism to evangelical Christianity in the last year of his life.

Let me also mention George Boole, the British mathematician who invented Boolean Algebra. His work with binary numbers made the world of modern computers possible. Boole was also a pastor who was especially interested in creation studies.

We've run out of time today, but keep listening to Creation Moments on this station to learn about many other Bible believers who made important discoveries in mathematics, astronomy, medicine, geology, biology and many other sciences as well.

Prayer: Oh Lord, it stands to reason that those who believe in You have made significant contributions in the sciences that You created! I pray that You will continue to bless the work of Your children's hands! Amen.
