The Spirit of Antichrist is HERE!
On this episode of Countdown 2 Eternity, Pastors James Kaddis and Tom Hughes engage in a critical discussion about the spirit of Antichrist, which is plainly at work in the world today. From the rise of Marxist ideology and attacks on freedom to the growing push toward digital identification, surveillance, and centralized control, James and Tom examine how current events appear to be laying the groundwork for the system the Bible warned would come in the last days. Join us for a timely and important conversation as we explore these developments through the lens of Bible prophecy and consider what they mean for believers today.
Guest (Male): Welcome once again to Countdown to Eternity with Pastors James Kaddis and Tom Hughes. A weekly radio ministry from Calvary Chapel Signal Hill. Together, Tom and James examine current events and connect what's going on in our world to Bible prophecy. Let's lean in and listen.
James Kaddis: Hello, my dear brothers and sisters. I want to welcome you to a very exciting episode of Countdown to Eternity. Why is it exciting? Because I'm with the great Tom Hughes. Tom, you have a book that isn't yours up there. What's the story with that?
Tom Hughes: This book is by some guy named James Kaddis. Have you ever heard of him? James did not even ask me to do it. He didn't even hint to me to do it. I was just talking with Noah and I said, "Noah, this is James's program. I'm going to get his book and put it up here." I did it all on my own. James never said a single word. He did not manipulate me, twist my arm, or even tell me to do it. Why not? He's my friend and my brother.
I've been in Washington two weeks in a row, then in Idaho, and now I'm going to Mexico. There are so many people lately that I just stop taking pictures for you. I'll take little selfies and send them to you, but I gave up because there are too many. I do get the request, "When is James going to be in Santa Barbara?" James is going to be with me in Santa Barbara. David Tal, Brandon, the four of us will be in Santa Barbara together.
James Kaddis: I'm coming. It's going to be off the charts. It's going to be a blessing. We've got a big conference coming up even sooner than that, in person at my church. You killed it the last time at that conference. You did a good job. It was beyond the usual. The Force was with you.
June 14th, what time at your church, James? David Tal and myself will be there at 5:00 PM Pacific time. We'll go for a couple of hours. I think we went two and a half last time. We'll do a similar format. It's going to be outstanding. Join us in person, June 14th at 5:00 PM. David Tal, James Kaddis, and I get to join them both. It's going to be really cool. We're going to have a really good time.
Tom Hughes: Do you have something to light me up? Let's see what we've got going on. Mamdani. I keep myself away from the New York news only because it is stroke-level. He is definitely doing whatever he wants to do there. It is interesting. I'd like to hear how this is going to go because you have a legal mind.
We already know he didn't show up at Israel Day. He's the first mayor that didn't. I heard some big blow-up dolls of him and his wife showed up, but I wasn't there to see it myself. Mamdani is a Marxist. He wants to take down America. All these people voted for him, which is so strange.
Now he's saying, and this is where your legal mind comes in. I was in real estate before I became a pastor. I did title insurance and understood a lot of dynamics. I worked with attorneys all the time. You have another legal mind coming from a different track. Mamdani pitched this plan. We're going to go after the bad landlords in New York City. We're going to kick them out and give the property to nonprofit organizations.
We look at Minnesota, the Loring Center, and all the millions they're funded. We're going to give them to nonprofit organizations or government agencies. We're going to increase housing for the homeless people and the people who can't afford to live here. We're going to give the property to the tenants. You have all these people who don't work, who steal from everybody else, and they're cheering in the background while he's giving his speech because they think they're going to own the buildings.
Can you imagine people who can't even hold a job at McDonald's are now going to be landlords of these multi-million dollar apartments? He knows it's not going to work. But this article says Mamdani's plan is to socialize housing. This is part of the takedown.
James Kaddis: Assuming that Mamdani is actually going to socialize housing by seizing the means of production, because that's in essence what that is. He's talking about taking property where there are landlords that he deems to be behaving unacceptably and putting them in the possession of nonprofits or government organizations in order to better serve the people in these buildings.
It is illegal on many fronts. It's illegal according to the state of New York and their constitution. It is completely a violation of the Constitution of the United States. I'm shocked at the idea that people can even look at this and think that's right. Let's just assume for a moment that he's actually proposing what many people believe he's proposing, namely the transfer of privately owned housing from landlords to nonprofit organizations or government-controlled entities, or the tenants themselves.
We're talking about something far more significant than housing policy. We're talking about government seizure of private property. Does anybody read the Fifth Amendment? The Fifth Amendment is the most enormous obstacle that exists. Part of the Fifth Amendment states, "Nor shall private property be taken for public use without just compensation."
What is he going to do? Is he going to claim eminent domain? How can he claim eminent domain and create the function of a mechanized seizure in order to transfer wealth? The government can't simply decide that a landlord is unpopular or insufficiently compliant and then just transfer ownership. It's ridiculous. That would trigger serious constitutional questions.
What about due process? What about the Fifth Amendment and the 14th Amendment? Property rights cannot be removed simply because a political official decides that an owner is not managing property in a preferred manner. There have to be legal standards, due process protections put in place, and judicial review. There's none of that in what he's proposing.
What about the equal protection issue? If government officials selectively target certain owners based on some kind of ideological preference or political belief or business model, courts would likely scrutinize the actions. New York's own constitution contains protections for private property that would create additional massive legal hurdles.
Since when does the government have the right to redefine ownership simply because it believes it can operate property more efficiently or more compassionately than the current owner? That idea has been completely tested. Has anybody ever heard of the Soviet Union, Cuba, or Venezuela? The seizure of private property has almost always been justified under that mechanism.
The legal question isn't whether this would help tenants. That's a ridiculous question for the basis of legality. The question is whether the government has continual authority to take privately owned property and transfer it to another owner because some politician prefers that arrangement. It's ridiculous.
Tom Hughes: I think it is intentional just to keep pounding at that door. You create a massive number of individuals that we already see across America. They're here to protest ICE. They're here to protest what happened in California where you have the Nick Shirley law. It is this pushing against what we know is constitutional and legal by something like this.
All you do is create massive lawlessness. The people who don't work, who don't contribute to society, and the illegal immigrants are just going to rise up. Mamdani knows this won't hold up in court. It is not so much that he thinks this is going to hold up in court. It is about spurring on chaos and lawlessness because that is what the Marxism way is. You create enough lawlessness, and then you have civil war.
James Kaddis: I can list the Marxist principles involved here. I can identify at least four of them. People look at this and say he just wants to make a better life for everybody. But look at what's going on. Look at the big principles of Marxism that are actually coming out. How about class struggle?
It's one of the first tenets of Marxism. Marxism divides society into oppressors and the oppressed. In housing discussions, landlords become the oppressor class and tenants are instantly the oppressed. This happens all over the world. Once that framework is accepted, property rights are no longer viewed as something that's going to sustain society or as obstacles to overcome.
How about collective ownership? That is another big one. Marxism wants to move assets away from private ownership and toward collective state or quasi-state control. When proposals involve transferring any type of ownership into a nonprofit or government-managed structure, this is exactly that. It becomes the beginning of collective ownership.
How about agitation? How about polarization? It's in the book of Marxism. Marxist movements have historically always relied on this. It's what Marx taught. How about the delegitimization of existing institutions that are designed to provide and preserve freedom? You have to delegitimize those organizations. You have to delegitimize the government. You have to delegitimize the Constitution or any of the other protections.
This is why they're trying to destroy the border. The border is about delegitimizing any of these institutions. This is Marxism.
Tom Hughes: Under this premise that we're going to fix this whole mess, there are billions of dollars tied up in this. What you can do is go after any political opponent that you want. All you have to do is make up something and say this guy doesn't take care of an electrical outlet that has a problem. You can build up a case against anybody you want because you're not going to be boycotted.
James Kaddis: They tried to do it with President Trump.
Tom Hughes: I'm sure they aren't done with trying to do it to Trump. Now, let me throw something else in there because these types of things are already happening in Canada. There was this young guy, well-educated, and he had a social media following that was growing. He was calling out Marxism, Islam, and the Chinese Communist Party.
He's sitting in a bar or a restaurant. There was a psychiatrist in there that recognized him. Apparently, Canada has some law they passed where somebody that is in the position of like a psychiatrist or a doctor was able to call the police as an authority figure and say, "There's a person in here who is a problem for society."
He got arrested. He got taken into a psych ward. This is Canada. The last I heard, he was still locked up. I haven't looked at this in several days, but he was in there for at least several days. You can say this person is a problem. Now, this is what we look at also. I don't know if this guy was a Christian or anything like that. A lot of people who go to church say we don't have to worry about that because that's Canada.
Remember what happened in Nazi Germany. First they came for the homeless, then they came for the gypsies. Then they came for me and there was no one to speak for me. This is what is happening. When you see something like this in Canada, we are watching what's going on in Europe and France. Then we watch what's going on in Canada with all of their eugenics policies they've got in Canada.
Then we have this crammed down the throats of people in America and they vote for people like Mamdani. Then you have the borders that are blown open. It's just a little bit at a time. We watch what's going on in Texas and Orange County, which is known to be conservative. Apparently, they've approved some Islamic mosque city or something like that. I just heard about that the other day. It's a little bit at a time.
James Kaddis: Can you think of a better example of what the spirit of Antichrist looks like? These people are getting individuals to ignore the existence of God through collectively assuming the role of another god. It's instead of Christ.
Tom Hughes: Isaiah 5 says they'll call good evil and evil good. It flips everything. Satan is getting his own script out there through the puppets that he has in media and social media and manipulating everything. As I look at this, you can see Babylon is at the doors. They're closing in. Babylon is inside. The fifth column is operating within the United States of America.
There's useful idiots who vote these people into power and think it's going to work out good for them. It is not going to work out good for them. It's the same thing when you see the LGBTQ supporting Hamas. You think that's going to work out good for you in the long run? They will use the useful idiots to advance their agenda.
The same way in Revelation chapter 17, we have the woman who rides the beast, the Whore of Babylon. This religious system that the ten kings use to obtain their global power, and then what do they do? They hate her, they do away with her. They know that she was a useful idiot. But it's built on this religious thinking of the social gospel. The social gospel comes in the form of climate laws. It comes in the form of, "We just need a big group hug and we just need to all get along." Everybody needs housing even if they are lazy people who don't want to work and want to come by your house and steal from you. This is the social gospel, and this is what's being promoted. It is part of this religious last days religious system.
James Kaddis: It's becoming so obvious. The problem is we have this absence of people that are willing to acknowledge what this really is. It's so funny to me how quickly people will be willing to get so angry over some of the other things that are popping up in social media, yet they're not looking at the obvious life that's being ripped away from them.
Before you know it, there's going to be the assumption of a different role by a different god that isn't the true and living God. It'll be too late by the time people see it or realize it.
Tom Hughes: I'll give you an illustration. Yuri Bezmenov, a Soviet defector, gave four principles, four things the communists do. The first thing they do is demoralize the people. That happened. You look at America. From the sexual revolution in the 1960s, you look at where we are. There's no right or wrong. In fact, if you bring the truth, you're the one who's the evil person. We've been totally demoralized.
The second one is you destabilize the people. We are in a place where I think we are beyond the demoralized. We are in the place of destabilizing. Something like Mamdani and all of these different things, they destabilize. When you've demoralized the people, you get the people to the place where facts don't matter. It doesn't matter. You can say this is white, they'll say it's black. You say it's black, they'll say it's white. Facts don't matter. You can say a boy can't have babies. Facts don't matter. We have reached that place where facts don't matter. Everybody's in their own algorithm, their own echo chamber.
Demoralize, then you destabilize. I believe America is in this place of being destabilized. Then what happens after it's destabilized to enough of a point? You create a crisis. The crisis comes in and it is so great that when the crisis is created, the people will finally shout out and say, "We need somebody to save us. Big Brother, come and save us." I believe this is exactly the playbook that we are watching come about.
James Kaddis: I see this as more of a description of the spirit of Antichrist. John tells us this, that the spirit of Antichrist has always been here and it continues to be. Look at what they're doing. They're creating a grievance, they're identifying the grievance, and then they're dividing people into that oppressor versus oppressed category.
They're creating resentment between the groups, which is something that is so typical of what exists within Marxism. Then they're convincing the oppressed group that the oppressors are using institutions to take away everything. They're creating this crazy conflict. We see it everywhere. Even in the church right now, I'm going out of my way to educate people how to be fiscally responsible. I want to develop people who are financially literate and I want families in the church to build wealth so that they can have freedom to serve the Lord.
But they're looking at the Antichrist mentality that creates the division between rich and poor, or landlord versus tenant. This is a big one that's coming up right now, the whole citizen versus illegal immigrant. You know how they do that? They allow illegal immigrant aliens to stay in this country instead of simply doing what they were supposed to do in the first place.
It's just completely ridiculous. We're seeing it everywhere. Colonized versus colonizer, majority versus minority. It's happening in every kind of place. It's evil. It's super evil. Think about it like this. The Gospel does the exact opposite. If you tell people about the Gospel and you tell people that there's hope in Christ, the Gospel completely eliminates the classes that Marxism divides. It shows that everybody needs the Lord. Marxism says your biggest problem is another group of people, but the Gospel says your biggest problem is your own sin and the solution is Christ. That's why I say the whole this is the spirit of Antichrist. It's designed to get rid of God in a society.
Tom Hughes: When we look at this, mentioning immigration and mentioning the borders, you have all these people on the inside now. It's beyond anything we even know. This is one of the things that happened during the last 15-20 years leading up before Trump comes in. The borders are blown open and a lot of what was coming across the borders were people from Mexico that actually wanted to work and go through the process.
But what nobody was paying any attention to is all of these other people that are now here. They were even coming in by airplanes. They were coming in all these different ways and nobody would say anything because all they would say is they would lump them into this lie that these people are just here to work. No, they weren't. How many of them were these Somalis? How many of them are coming from these North African nations? How many of them are actually Muslim?
What has been created is this fifth column. During the Spanish Civil War, Emilio Mola said that Madrid would fall because he had four columns of rebel troops approaching the city from the outside. As they arrived, a fifth column of rebel sympathizers would rise up inside the city and the fifth column would assure the victory. Philip of Macedon, Alexander the Great's father, did the same thing. Sun Tzu, The Art of War, even wrote about that.
The enemy of our souls knows this. We are watching what is the attempt of not just the takedown of America. It's the attempt of the takedown of the entire Western world. Because if America goes, it is the whole world. It is an attempt at this global system that is coming with the spirit of Antichrist at work. The Antichrist is not officially on the scene yet, but the spirit of Antichrist is everywhere.
James Kaddis: We are moving into that system. The system of the actual final Antichrist is here. I think it's already being built and there's tons of evidence everywhere that proves it.
Tom Hughes: We are just waiting to see exactly how it's going to shape up. Whether we look at Israel, what's going with Iran and Russia, all the different geopolitical alliances going on there which must take place. We know that Israel and Jerusalem is the epicenter and the Jews. We understand the persecution against genuine believers in the Lord Jesus Christ.
But then we look at the global beast system. We have digital ID, we have digital currency, and we have this. How does the thief take the house? Jesus said it in Matthew chapter 12. He said before the thief can take the house, he must bind the strong man. What we are watching now is the binding of the strong man.
James Kaddis: If you need more evidence that the system of Revelation 13 is happening, look at what's going on right now. Even Apple is announcing that they're going to be using global digital identification mechanisms. This universal digital identity is coming into play. How about digital currency? How much more conversation do we have to have about CBDCs? How about mass surveillance?
Tom Hughes: We have to talk a lot more, but we can do that on our next program. We have to talk about what's coming with this whole digital trap. It is here and it's just waiting to be set. So we need to talk about it next time.
James Kaddis: There is a lot to talk about. The book talks about that. It is definitely embedded within my heart. That's for sure because it's something I've been talking about a lot. Any final word?
Tom Hughes: We see these things happen, but don't be discouraged. When Jesus told us what was going to happen in the Olivet Discourse, we have all of the prophecies of the Old Testament too and the other prophecies with the Apostle Paul or the other writers of the New Testament and Old Testament.
They're given to us so we would be informed, so we would be watchmen. That's what we are supposed to be. So we are warning people, but for us, when we see these things, we look up. We lift up our head with expectant joy because they point to Christ's second coming. For those who don't know him, they are warnings that you need to pay attention because the Bible told us these things would be. Bible prophecy is God's signature to say this book is real. Everything I told you is going to happen. We know that our redemption is near, but nevertheless, we've got to warn people.
James Kaddis: More than ever, I think it's incumbent upon us to recognize this because we're in the last days. It's just that curtain's going to go up. The rapture's going to happen and the curtain's going to go up and the stage is being set. That's what's happening right now. All the players are being put in place.
That'll be our next episode. We'll talk about that. We'll talk about the Antichrist system. That sounds like fun. We do sincerely hope that you've enjoyed watching this as much as we've enjoyed making it on behalf of the great Tom Hughes. I want to thank you for joining us for another episode of Countdown to Eternity. We love you guys. Please don't forget, Christ can come at any moment. God bless you.
