God's character is to make His people a light to the world. It was true in Old Testament times, and it's true in the church age. All of us are missionaries, and the church that doesn't evangelize will eventually fossilize.

One means of praising the Lord is through music. It might be loud and rhythmic, as the music of ancient Israel probably was, or it might be the old hymns or the newer worship choruses. But the important thing is to make a joyful noise unto the Lord.

The Bible portrays the physical attitude of worship in many ways—falling down before the Lord, kneeling, raising hands, clapping, standing in respect. But all true worshippers come to the Lord in humility. Their focus is not on themselves, but on Him.

Praise is one activity that will go on throughout eternity. In Revelation 4 and 5, John sees the throne room of heaven in a vision, and all those in God's presence continually declare the holiness, and the worthiness, and the glory of God.

When the church in Acts 4 was forbidden to preach in the name of Jesus, they were not overwhelmed because their focus was on God. They prayed with adoration and direction, and the result was that they were filled with boldness.

Is prayer your first instinct or your last resort? We should pray regularly and as an essential part of our daily routine. We should not pray only when we face a severe challenge, but it should be our first reaction to any difficulty in our lives.

The Bible tells us not to eat the Lord's Supper in an unworthy manner. This doesn't mean we can make ourselves worthy in some way. It means that we shouldn't partake as mere ritual or superstition, or with sin in our hearts.
