When he came to Athens, Paul saw that the city was given over to idols. The thing that were being preached left people empty at their core. Paul used this emptiness to reach out to them with the hope of Jesus Christ.

We often idealize the early church and forget that they were imperfect people, just like we are. As Paul and Barnabas planned a missionary journey, they had a conflict that was so strong that they parted company and went in separate directions.
