God always gives people a second chance. Just as a doctor must sometimes hurt in order to heal, in the time of Hosea, God had to punish the people until they turned back to Him.

Just as Hosea's wife had left him, so the nation of Israel had left God. Therefore, God cursed the land and the people. Why wasn't there any knowledge of God in the land?
