When the things that Jacob’s sons had done came to light, they were blessed or judged by their father. We should remember that, because we will stand before the judgment seat of Christ.

On his deathbed, Jacob had things he wanted to set in order. The law said that the oldest son should receive a double portion, but Jacob chose to honor the younger of Joseph’s sons.

In Genesis 47, Jacob and his family settle in the land of Goshen. We see that God blessed Pharaoh because he blessed Israel. Later, God would curse another Pharaoh because he dealt harshly with Israel.

God promised Jacob that a great nation would come from him. And from the 70 people who went to Egypt, over two million returned to the land of Canaan under Moses 400 years later.

Joseph never stopped trusting in God's faithfulness. As we see when Joseph and Jacob are reunited, we must view all of life's challenges through the lens of God's sovereignty.

Genuine forgiveness doesn't parade people's sins in front of them. When Joseph forgave his brothers, he told them not to grieve or be angry with themselves, but to see that God was in control of everything.
