Amos pronounced God’s judgment on the nations surrounding Israel, and finally upon Israel itself. God contrasted His care for Israel with their own ingratitude toward Him.

Amos prophesied to Israel during a time of great wealth and national prosperity. But it was also a time of great moral corruption and idolatry, and they had forgotten God.

Joel prophesies that the Lord will judge the nations for their treatment of his people, Israel. But He will be a shelter to those who remain faithful to Him.

The book of Joel compares the end of the world with a plague of locusts. Locusts destroy everything in their path, and the "Day of the Lord" will be a time of God's judgment on the whole earth.

At the close of the book of Hosea, there is the promise of restoration for the people of Israel. God says He will heal the nation from its backsliding, and will love them freely.
