Like the judgment of Sodom, God’s final judgment will be severe. But it will also be selective. Just like Lot, and just like Noah, those who trust in Him will be spared.

The Lord appeared in human form to Abraham in Genesis 18. Abraham responded by serving Him personally, and with generosity. To be God’s friend, we must serve Him in all things.

In the Bible, God Himself refers to Abraham as His friend. As God’s friend, he had to get used to God changing his plans. And he always had to respond to the Lord in humility.

God gave circumcision as a symbol of His covenant with the Jews. It was a symbol of repentance. And repentance is still an uncomfortable message for people to hear.
