The family of Isaac was prone to selfishness, distrust and scheming. And there was a continual battle between Esau and Jacob. But God still worked in the family, despite all their dysfunction.

From a human standpoint, the failures of Isaac are disappointing. But from a spiritual perspective, they show the faithfulness of God. God’s mercy is always there, even when we stumble.

Isaac’s two sons, Esau and Jacob, were very different individuals. By tradition, Esau would get the inheritance because he was the eldest. But it is Jacob, the younger son, that God chooses as the favored one.
