As the Israelites were partaking of the Passover, the firstborn in all the households of the Egyptians died. It was only then that Pharaoh allowed the Jews to depart, as God had ordained.

The death of the firstborn of Egypt was God’s judgment on a people who had killed the male children of the Israelites. God was dealing with Pharaoh in a way that Pharaoh would understand.

The ninth plague over Egypt was darkness. This was a supernatural darkness that the people could actually feel. But Pharaoh still refused to give in to the demand to let the Israelites go.

Joseph, a Jew, had blessed the nation of Egypt. Then Pharaoh caused the destruction of Egypt by how he treated the Jews. Now, Egypt is brought to the brink of starvation by a plague of locusts.

The seventh plague from God brought fiery hail on the land. Some of the Egyptians began to fear the Lord, and they would leave Egypt with the Israelites. But Pharaoh and his servants still did not fear the Lord.

For the sixth plague, all the Egyptians are inflicted with boils all over their bodies. God was shutting down the entire false worship system of Egypt for a time, because the priests had to be clean from any skin disease or sore.
