Living Hope

May 21, 2019

Why did Peter call our salvation "a living hope" in 1 Peter 1:3? Pastor Chad answers this question by following Peter through the Gospels from the time of the crucifixion through the resurrection. We follow Peter's story to discover our own story of a living hope.

Luke tells us that other miracles were being performed in Acts 2, so why did Luke record this particular miracle as the first recorded miracle of the New Testament Church? In the conclusion of the Kingdom Series of the Book of Acts, Pastor Chad explains why this miracle was recorded. He links it to the sermon Peter preached and explains how Acts 3 is a transition chapter in the book of Acts and how what was happening in the homes of the early church began to spill into the streets at Solomon's Portico.

Acts 3 is an exciting chapter because it is a transition in the story of the young, Christian Church. Acts 2 tells us what was happening in the Upper Room and after Pentecost how the new 3,000 plus believers gathered in homes for Bible study, fellowship and prayer. But in Acts 3, we see what was happening in the homes began to spill over into the streets of Jerusalem. In Pt. 10 of our Acts Series, Pastor Chad walks us through the first 10 verses studying the vivid imagery Luke records for us.

What dominates your prayer life? What do you look for in a Church? God shares with us what He values in His people through Acts 2. In this sermon, we learn how we should value what God values. Luke writes in Acts 2 that the new Church had a big effect on the society of Jerusalem. He says that awe came upon the people and that they had favor with all the people as the Lord added to their numbers daily. In Pt. 8 of our Acts Series, we saw what made this Church devoted. In Pt. 9 of our study, we will see what made them attractive.

How does God measure His Church? What does God call a successful life, business or church? In Acts 2, we see what the early church valued. To our culture, they may seem simple, but to the Lord, these are the keys to success. In Pt. 8 of our Acts Series, Pastor Chad breaks down the Biblical meaning of important words like fellowship, prayer and breaking of bread. Learn what it means to be a devoted Christ follower the way the early church was.

What made Peter's sermon so powerful that it "cut to the heart" the very people who crucified Christ? What gave him such boldness to say, "This Jesus, whom you crucified?" When Peter preached in Acts 2, it was the first sermon ever delivered by someone filled with the Holy Spirit. Luke records the results by telling us that 3,000 were saved on that day! In Pt. 7 of our Acts Study, Pastor Chad walks us through Peter's sermon that was so powerful.
