Abounding Grace

Pastor Ed Taylor

You're Only Safe in the Ark Part 1

March 14, 2024

Today on Abounding Grace pastor Ed Taylor begins chapter seven.  God is about to judge the world by flood, but before He does, He tells Noah and his family to board the Ark.  Pastor Ed will compare this to another judgement that’s coming, and stress how important it is that we board the Ark so to speak.  We do that through faith in Jesus.

Today we aim to complete Genesis chapter six with pastor Ed Taylor.  The Lord gave Noah a mission to go and build an ark!  And Noah did what he was told.  This beautiful picture of obedience to God speaks volumes to us today.  We’re to obey the Lord just as Noah did, in whatever He may call us to do. Let’s receive the challenge.

In a moment we’ll hear from pastor Ed Taylor, who today continues his series in Genesis.  Noah’s Ark… you may have heard a thing or two about it in Sunday School.  But what you may not realize is it beautifully portrays our salvation and God’s marvelous grace and where to find it.  We’ll learn about this and more today as we deep dive into chapter six.

I probably don’t have to convince you that we’re living in the last days, but the question we’ll entertain today is how should we be living at such a time as this?  We get some clues as we look at how Noah lived in a very dark time, similar to our own.  He walked with God, keeping his eyes on the Lord.  Pastor Ed says we need to do the same.

We’re excited to open God’s wonderful Word with you once again on Abounding Grace.  Pastor Ed Taylor will be along shortly, and continue our series in First Corinthians. We’re just getting started in chapter twelve, and we plan on being here for quite some time as it really serves to help us understand spiritual gifts.  The Corinthians were ignorant in this area, but we don’t have to be, if we’ll take the time to learn what God says about it in His Word.

It seems like every time you turn on the news, you’re reminded that we live in a dark and wicked world.  Evil behavior is on the increase and even celebrated.  Not unlike a time we’ll read about in Genesis chapter six.  Today on Abounding Grace that’s where we’ll join pastor James Kaddis, and discover this really grieved the heart of God.  He would end up judging the world through a flood.  But first came a warning of coming judgement!

Wouldn’t you like to live a life of purpose and significance?  You can.  And the key to unlock that door is to walk faithfully with God, just as Enoch did so long ago.  Today on Abounding Grace we’ll derive much needed encouragement from Genesis chapter five.  It contains a genealogy, but this isn’t just a list of names we may find hard to pronounce.  There’s something here we can benefit a great deal from.
March 7, 2024
If you’ve ever read through the genealogies in the Bible you might have just glossed right over it, thinking this is just a list of names and how does that apply to me!  Keep listening, as today on Abounding Grace you’ll discover they are very significant.  One such genealogy is found in Genesis chapter five, and that’s where we’ll spend the bulk of our time together.

We’ve all done things that we’d later regret.  Perhaps it was one bad decision leading to another, and then you did something you never thought possible!  In Genesis chapter four we find the truth about sin and what it leads to.  You’re about to hear the story of Cain.  What started with an offering to God that was rooted in human effort, lead to anger and then the murder of his own brother. Ed Taylor points out some noteworthy lessons that flow from it all!

Pastor Ed Taylor will continue our new series in Genesis.  In chapter four we’re introduced to Cain and Abel, the sons of Adam and Eve.  We’re told that they each brought an offering to God, one was accepted and the other wasn’t!  This lead to Cain getting very angry with God and he would end up killing his brother.  Pastor Ed believes when we’re angry we’re faced with a critical decision… will we confess it or sin with it.

There were a lot of problems in the church in Corinth, and we’ve certainly noticed that in recent studies here on Abounding Grace.  And today we’ll observe an ignorance, or lack of understanding, concerning spiritual gifts.  The same is true today in many believers.  And so pastor Ed Taylor is going to help us come to an understanding of how the Holy Spirit works in and through our lives.  Beginning today, we’ll set out to gain a right understanding of Spiritual Gifts, with First Corinthians twelve in view.
