The Gospel Message in Genesis Part 1

March 6, 2024

If you’ve ever read through the genealogies in the Bible you might have just glossed right over it, thinking this is just a list of names and how does that apply to me!  Keep listening, as today on Abounding Grace you’ll discover they are very significant.  One such genealogy is found in Genesis chapter five, and that’s where we’ll spend the bulk of our time together.

We’ve all done things that we’d later regret.  Perhaps it was one bad decision leading to another, and then you did something you never thought possible!  In Genesis chapter four we find the truth about sin and what it leads to.  You’re about to hear the story of Cain.  What started with an offering to God that was rooted in human effort, lead to anger and then the murder of his own brother. Ed Taylor points out some noteworthy lessons that flow from it all!

Pastor Ed Taylor will continue our new series in Genesis.  In chapter four we’re introduced to Cain and Abel, the sons of Adam and Eve.  We’re told that they each brought an offering to God, one was accepted and the other wasn’t!  This lead to Cain getting very angry with God and he would end up killing his brother.  Pastor Ed believes when we’re angry we’re faced with a critical decision… will we confess it or sin with it.

There were a lot of problems in the church in Corinth, and we’ve certainly noticed that in recent studies here on Abounding Grace.  And today we’ll observe an ignorance, or lack of understanding, concerning spiritual gifts.  The same is true today in many believers.  And so pastor Ed Taylor is going to help us come to an understanding of how the Holy Spirit works in and through our lives.  Beginning today, we’ll set out to gain a right understanding of Spiritual Gifts, with First Corinthians twelve in view.

The way sin is so often portrayed in today’s world you’d think it’s the greatest thing since sliced bread!   What they don’t often tell you are the catastrophic results!  So today on Abounding Grace we pause to consider the Results of Sin, as described for us in Genesis chapter three.  We’ll also be encouraged that there is a way out, and a way to be an overcomer!

Today on Abounding Grace pastor Ed Taylor will be taking us through the latter half of Genesis chapter three. This chapter is a crucial part of Scripture because it explains why the world is the way it is. In a word sin!  And today we’ll begin to see the results of sin, as well as the way out! God has an answer to our sin problem and you can be an overcomer.

Pastor Ed Taylor is leading a study of Genesis, and today we make a return visit to chapter three and the garden.  Satan is the father of lies, and he’s been up to the same old tricks since the garden.   He questions God’s Word, casts suspicion, and even contradicts what the Lord has said.  He’s a liar.  And today we’ll gain a greater understanding of how he works, as well as how to overcome the temptation to sin.

Pastor Ed Taylor is taking us through Genesis, verse by verse, right now.  In chapter three, sin enters the world.  Eve falls for Satan’s lie, and Adam willfully disobeys God too.  And through it all we get pretty good idea of how Satan operates.  His methods really haven’t changed through the years, so it would be a good idea to see how he attacks and how to mount a defense.

Today on Abounding Grace pastor Ed Taylor shares the story of Adam and Eve and how God brought them together.  Right here in Genesis two we discover God’s design for marriage.  It’s not good for man to be alone, and Adam needed a helper.  God provided just what he needed and at the perfect time.

Have you ever stopped to think for a moment about what life would be like if it weren’t for the sacrificial death of Jesus on the Cross? Life would be pointless, futile and empty. In fact that can pretty much sum up any life today that doesn’t include a relationship with Jesus. Today on Abounding Grace pastor Ed Taylor continues our verse by verse study of First Corinthians with a look what communion is all about. The church in Corinth had lost sight of this, let’s make sure we don’t do the same.

We’re traveling through Genesis one verse at a time, here on Abounding Grace.  Pastor Ed Taylor has an eye on Genesis chapter two where a very real choice is before Adam and Eve!   Will they choose to follow God’s path, or the path of sin and rebellion?  It’s a choice we have to make on a regular basis.
