Aaron's Rod
What was preserved in the Holy of Holies still speaks to the issue of spiritual authority today.
Rabbi K.A. Schneider: Shalom beloved, this is Rabbi Schneider from Discovering the Jewish Jesus. One of the interesting things that we read about when we're studying the Tabernacle is that inside the Holy of Holies was Aaron's rod that had budded.
When did Aaron's rod bud? When there was a discrepancy, or I should say there was a fight amongst all these different factions in ancient Israel as to who was the leader. They were rebelling against Moses and Aaron's leadership. And the Lord said, "I want the head of every tribe to take a rod, and the rod that I cause to bud, that's the one that I've chosen to lead."
And Aaron's rod that budded was actually kept inside the Holy of Holies. The simple principle I want to leave us with today, beloved: Don't be a rebel against authority.
