John Randall

The Good Shepherd Part 2

January 18, 2022

Seems like every time you turn around, there’s a new scam popping up.  And perhaps you’ve been a victim of that in recent years?  There are also people roaming around that are out to rip us off spiritually too, but this should be no surprise, as Jesus said it would be this way. We’re about to see a vivid contrast our Lord gave between the good and the false shepherds from John chapter ten.  We’ll also take notice of what makes the good Shepherd so good!

Throughout the Word you’ll discover several I Am statements from Christ.  One of them is, “I am the good Shepherd,” found in John chapter ten.  And we are sheep in desperate need of a good shepherd.  But what makes the good shepherd good?  That’s the question of the day here on a Daily Walk, and pastor John Randall will set out to answer that for us.

Today’s message from pastor John Randall is centered on the Lord’s message to the church in Smyrna, found in Revelation chapter two. You know, pain is never fun to experience or even talk about, but pain- both physical and emotional is inevitable. The church in Smyrna was suffering a barrage of persecution and tribulation, yet the Lord reminds them not to be fearful but rather be faithful. That’s an important point for Christians today as well. Persecution and hard times will visit each of us throughout our lives, but we should be faithful through it all.

Imagine being blind from birth... never able to see your loved ones, or see the sunrise, and set, or anything else for that matter.  Then, in an instant, you receive your sight.  The feeling that would accompany that experience would be hard to put into words!  Today on a Daily Walk we will be introduced to a blind man who experienced the healing touch of the master’s hand.  Pastor John Randall offers several observations concerning this great miracle of God.

Today we draw your attention to a radical statement by Jesus that certainly caused quite a stir.  He said, "Before Abraham was, I Am."  He was claiming to be God. And this declaration of deity is important for us to hear and receive.  As we live in a day, where this is debated and denied.

What is God like and how should we treat those in sin? A couple of key questions we’ll be considering today as we get back into our study of John and along the way you’ll discover something we can be truly thankful for... the forgiveness of Jesus.

In John chapter eight we find some religious leaders bringing to Jesus a young woman they caught in the very act of adultery.  They were looking to condemn her.  How Jesus responds perfectly answers the question of what God is like and how we should treat those in sin.

There are sometimes in life when nothing but a tall glass of water will satisfy our thirst... not a coke, milk, or even gatorade right?  Today on a Daily Walk, we’ll see that only living water can quench our spiritual thirst.  And maybe that’s what you’re in need of today, as you’re empty, dry and thirsty?  Pastor John Randall takes us to John chapter seven in his message, "A Question of Identity."

Have you ever been through a trial or period of discouragement, and then you received a note or message from a friend that really ministered to you? It’s always encouraging to know that a friend is thinking about us, isn’t it, especially at a time like that! That’s exactly what the Lord did for the church in Smyrna in the second chapter of Revelation. Smyrna was suffering persecution for their faith, and also tribulation and poverty. This little passage of just four verses is a reminder to stay faithful, and that the Lord understands what we’re going through. If you’re going through similar problems in your life today, allow this to encourage you, and join us for this uplifting message from Revelation chapter two, verses eight through eleven.

I think it’s safe to say most of us want to be well liked by others.   But maybe you’ve noticed, if you live for the Lord and walk as Jesus walked, not everyone will pat you on the back.  In fact, at times we’ll be hated.  The world hated Jesus, and even His own family rejected Him.  And we can expect similar treatment as well.  Today on a Daily Walk that comes to our attention through a study in John seven.

When we’re hungry, we know what to do..... we either open the fridge and cook something up, or go out to eat and satisfy our hunger that way.  But what do we do with our spiritual hunger?  As we’ll see today on a Daily Walk, not everyone goes about trying to satisfy it the right way.  In fact, most don’t.   Pastor John Randall is in the gospel of John, and today he attracts our attention to Christ- the source of everlasting life.
