The Freedom to Love Part 2

June 17, 2022

We have great liberty in Christ, but does that mean anything goes? Maybe you’ve heard some of your friends excuse their wrong behavior, thinking that’s the case. Our salvation is a free gift from God and isn’t obtained by works or legalistic rules. However, as we'll see, Christian freedom and Christian responsibility go hand in hand.

Living in the Daze of Deception
There’s no question that Satan loves to deceive.  He’s been at it since the Garden.  And we can expect that to only increase in the last days.  How do we combat these lies and avoid getting lead astray?  We’d like to recommend a book from Jack Hibbs called, “Living in the Daze of Deception.”  Foreward by Mike Pompeo.  This national bestseller is available right now to our a Daily Walk listeners for the cost of just ten dollars.

How do we make decisions on issues that the Scripture doesn't specifically address? Today on a Daily Walk we’ll be considering that very thing. Though the scripture doesn’t address every specific issue it does provide us with what we need for life and godliness. We are given principles that we can apply in our decision making.  And some of these principles are found in First Corinthians chapter eight.

There’s a yearning within many of us to want something else or more for our lives. Maybe you’re dissatisfied with your current job. Others may long for moving to another area like out of California. But today on a Daily Walk we receive much needed encouragement to seek the Lord. He may be calling you to bloom where you’re planted, or it’s also possible He’s giving you the green light to change course.

It really is sad to see how lightly marriage is taken these days. The divorce rate, the laws that are in place, and even the living together prior to marriage just goes to show how far we’ve declined as a society. But God sees marriage entirely different, and He wants us to value and esteem marriage as highly as He does. Today on a Daily Walk we’re talking about marriage, singleness and serving the Lord.

We’ve covered a wide variety of topics in our study of First Corinthians thus far from the damage caused by division, to a rebuke of carnal Christianity, and more recently the solution to pride and a call for purity! Now the apostle Paul shifts gears and discusses singleness, marriage and serving the Lord.

What would you do to get someone’s attention? If your neighbor’s house was on fire would you break a window to get their attention? What would God do to get the attention of a world that’s about to burn down so to speak? We’ll find out on a Daily Walk.  John Randall is in the middle of his study of Revelation and in chapter eight the seven trumpet judgments are sounding.  The first four deal with the physical world, and things we often take for granted are impacted in a big way.

Today we turn to First Corinthians chapter six.  We can all probably think of a person or two that claims to be a Christian, yet their life is really no different than any other non-christian out there.  They’re living with their boyfriend or girlfriend, stealing from their boss, and getting drunk virtually every weekend.  We’re about to notice what that sort of sinful lifestyle reveals about the person.

When we’re wronged by someone or our rights are violated we might be tempted to take it into the legal system. And in certain instances that may be the appropriate course of action. But let’s say the person who did you wrong is a Christian… what then?  Should Christians sue Christians?  Today on a Daily Walk that very question is raised.  We’re going through First Corinthians, and in chapter six another problem in the church at Corinth rises to the surface.  Before you say, “I’ll see you in court,” consider what these verses have to say on the matter.

When a tag is sticking out from your friend’s shirt, or some food is on their chin…. the considerate thing to do is let them know so they can fix the problem.  And most of us would do that.  But what do you do when you see someone in willful, deliberate sin?  If you’re like most you tend to stay out of it, thinking it’s none of your business.  But is that really loving?  Today on a Daily Walk we’ll see how God can use us to help others who are living a lifestyle of sin.  Pastor John Randall’s message is based on First Corinthians five.

Imagine if there was a guy in your church who was having sexual relations with his stepmother.  On top of it all, the whole church knew what was going on, but did nothing about it.  Scandalous, I’m sure you’d agree.  That’s exactly what was going on in the church at Corinth.  But before you start thinking we’re above that pastor John Randall will point out the same sort of tolerance of sin is going on today in many churches.  Today on a Daily Walk we’ll open First Corinthians five and be encouraged to live a life of purity.

Someone has noticed God wisely designed our human bodies so that we can neither pat our own backs nor kick ourselves too easily.  We’re talking about the sin of pride today on a Daily Walk as we get back to our series in First Corinthians.  We’ll observe not only the consequences of pride but also the way out of it.
