John Randall

The Compromising Church, Part 2

November 30, 2018

Today pastor John Randall resumes his series in Revelation, as we conclude our look at the Lord’s letter to the church in Pergamum. This particular church was like many churches today. What started as a small drip of false teaching has turned into a flood of deceit.  They were compromising. The solution to this problem hasn’t changed over the last two thousand years.  Let’s find out what God’s word has to say on the matter on a Daily Walk!

Living in the Daze of Deception
There’s no question that Satan loves to deceive.  He’s been at it since the Garden.  And we can expect that to only increase in the last days.  How do we combat these lies and avoid getting lead astray?  We’d like to recommend a book from Jack Hibbs called, “Living in the Daze of Deception.”  Foreward by Mike Pompeo.  This national bestseller is available right now to our a Daily Walk listeners for the cost of just ten dollars.

Last time we completed John’s look at the Lord’s letter to Smyrna, in Revelation chapter two. It was a letter of encouragement and praise. Today, as we begin a study of the letter to Pergamum, we see a very different tone from the Lord. Pergamum had fallen into the hands of false teaching.  They were compromising. The Lord’s response? Repent!

Today’s message from pastor John Randall is centered on the Lord’s message to the church in Smyrna, found in Revelation chapter two. The church in Smyrna was suffering a barrage of persecution and tribulation, yet the Lord reminds them that they have no reason to be fearful. That’s an important point for Christians today as well. Persecution and hard times will visit each of us throughout our lives, but we should not be fearful.

Have you ever been through a trial or period of discouragement, and then you received a note or message from a friend that really ministered to you? It’s always encouraging to know that a friend is thinking about us, isn’t it, especially at a time like that! That’s exactly what the Lord did for the church in Smyrna in the second chapter of Revelation.

Today on a Daily Walk we’ll be looking at the Lord’s postcard to the church in Ephesus. While they were commended for some things, they had walked away from their first love.  Their love had grown cold.  It happened to the Ephesians and it’s still happening to Christians today. If things aren’t where they used to be in your relationship with Jesus, today’s message will show you how to get back on track.

In the book of Revelation the apostle John receives a vision of the glorified Savior.  Fortunately for us, he wrote it down.  And we’re about to read his incredible description of what he saw.  We’ll then transition to a very helpful divine outline, that will help us grasp what’s to come in our study.

At Christmas time we recall and celebrate our Lord’s first coming to this earth.  But did you realize He’s coming again to establish His Kingdom?  And that’s as certain as His first advent.  This is predicted in the book of Revelation chapter one, and that’s where we’re headed today on a Daily Walk, as pastor John Randall focuses on a vision of the glorified Christ.
