Solving Problems in the Church

March 5, 2021

Murmuring and complaining… the children of Israel were known for that as they traversed through the dessert.  It was also a problem that threatened to split the early church!  And in case you haven’t noticed it’s still around today!  We approach Acts chapter six on this Friday edition of a Daily Walk. It’s there we hear of a problem that has developed in this growing Church. How they addressed it is very instructive for us today.

Are you having a bad day?  Maybe things just aren’t going the way you’d like it to.  Today on a Daily Walk receive some wonderful encouragement from the Scriptures.  We’re told in Acts five that the apostles were severely beaten and commanded not to speak of Jesus any longer.  How did they respond to this?  We’re told they rejoiced and considered it an honor to suffer for the name of Christ.  Pastor John Randall will urge us to carry this Christ-like attitude and response through life and the Pandemic.

Hardship and persecution comes at us at various times and in various ways.  Some, like the men we’ll meet today, are beaten or have their lives threatened due to their faith in Christ!  Others may be ridiculed or hit with fines for assembling at a church in a Pandemic!  But how should we respond when it happens?  While many resort to anger and complaining, today on a Daily Walk we’ll see that there’s good reason to rejoice in the midst of it!

Make no mistake about it the Lord takes hypocrisy very seriously.  In fact as we’ll see today on a Daily Walk two people died in the early church because of their premeditated hypocrisy.  But let’s not just notice where they went wrong, if we stop and think about it, we may have done the very same thing at one time or another.  Pastor John Randall believes this can serve as a needed wakeup call to live right before the Lord.

Maybe you’ve noticed in your daily walk or service of the Lord, when God is at work, Satan loves to attack!  And sometimes the attack comes from unsuspecting places, like from within the church!  Today on a Daily Walk we’ll notice how God’s spirit was very much at work in the early church.  And you guessed it, Satan is about to attack from within.

On today’s program we enter Acts chapter four.  In this section of scripture we’re looking at today, Peter has just given a God-inspired evangelistic sermon to a group of people who have  observed a miraculous healing of a lame man. Thousands of people ended up surrendering their lives to God.  One might expect that joy would abound, and everyone would be excited by the news.  But that wasn’t the case.  There was a group of religious leaders who were greatly disturbed by this! Pastor John Randall will draw attention to Peter and John’s reaction in the midst of this opposition.

Today we open the book of Acts and begin to look at a story of a man the Lord heals. The Lord gives this man far more than he could have ever imagined! It’s very encouraging to remind ourselves that our God seeks to do far more in and through our lives than we could have ever dreamed possible.  Question is, are you open to being used by God?  Let’s see together how God can and wants to use us in these last days.
