Exodus 19-20, Part 2

May 10, 2018

We’ll be looking at Exodus chapter twenty today, where we find the Ten Commandments. It doesn’t take long to see that we’ve broken God’s law, but that’s intended to drive us to Christ.  We’ll learn that what we’re unable to do, God can accomplish in and through our lives by the power of His Holy Spirit.

As God prepared Moses and the people of Israel to receive the Ten commandments, He also sought to remind them of His love and His Holiness. Like a good parent, God wanted to make sure that they knew He was “laying down the law” so to speak, because He loved them so much.  It would also point out our desperate need for a Redeemer.

If you feel like life is a real battle today, you’ll want to listen to this edition of a Daily Walk.  We can expect the enemy will attack us, and he knows where we’re vulnerable.  But the good news is, Jesus is praying for us and can lead us to victory.  We see a brilliant picture of this here in Exodus.

We join pastor John Randall in Exodus chapter seventeen today!  If you’re going through what could be termed a dry and thirsty season the Lord can use that to lead you to cry out to Him and receive what He has for you.  That’s essentially what we find happening in this chapter.

As we make our way over to Exodus chapter 15, remember the Lord has just brought His people out of Egypt and bondage.  He used a series of 10 plagues to make it happen. These 2-3 million people are now on the move, and you’d think they had forgotten what God had just done at this point in time.  They are greatly upset about a bitter water situation and ended up turning bitter themselves!  Pastor John Randall says this can easily happen to us too, if we start to take matters into our own hands instead of trusting God.

Maybe you’re facing something so big,  crushing, or devastating that you’re scared and hope seems lost?  Today on a Daily Walk we’ll turn to Exodus fourteen and see what to do when anxiety attacks.

John Randall takes us once again to the book of Exodus, and the actual exodus of the Israelites from Egypt.  In chapters thirteen and fourteen we see a great example of how God both leads and protects His people. We have a God that looks out for us, but so often we forget that and frustration and fear consumes us. Essentially that’s what happened to the children of Israel and Moses has some things to say to them which we can benefit a great deal from.

We have a wonderful message in store for you, as we continue pastor John Randall’s series through Exodus. We’ll be looking at the chapter twelve on this Tuesday. This description of the Passover lamb is also a reminder for us of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, the lamb of God.

Today on a Daily Walk we’ll be looking at Exodus eleven and twelve.  Pastor John will be showing us how this magnificently points to our Savior, and how the Lord would deliver us from our sins.  We’ve arrived at the tenth and final plague on Egypt, and the Lord is about to lead His people out of bondage.

As we return to our study in Exodus with pastor John Randall, we’ll again look at the 10 plagues of judgment.   We’ve seen the first seven already. God’s message to Pharoah, “Let my people go!”  He certainly gave Pharoah plenty of opportunities to obey this simple command, but after repeated denials, enough is enough.  God has a few more plagues to send, and He will get his way.

Can you think of an example of a hard heart in the Bible?  No doubt many of you immediately think of Pharoah!  As we’ll see today, God gave him chance after chance to do what He told him to do.  When the pressure was on Pharoah would comply, but when the pressure was off, he was back to doing things his way rather than God’s.  There are quite a number of people like Pharoah living today... and maybe some or a lot of his stubborness can be seen in your life?  Let’s be encouraged by the Scriptures to go God’s way, instead of our own.
