Daniel 8-9, Part 2

How close are we to the coming of Jesus? All the signs around us seem to be pointing to it happening very soon. But before He does there will be a 7 year tribulation period that involves a world leader who will rise to power, and be the embodiment of evil. He’s known as the Antichrist and will be empowered and directed by Satan. This is predicted in the book of Daniel as we’ll see today on a Daily Walk.

Today on a Daily Walk the prophet Daniel is given a dream where he sees several empires and one of them will be under the rule and reign of the antichrist. This will be followed by the fifth and final Kingdom, when Jesus comes again to establish His rule and reign. We’ll hear all about it today as our study of Daniel continues.

Don’t love those stories or movies where the good guys win in the end? But in many cases getting to that end can be treacherous. Daniel knew this all too well and perhaps you’re learning this important lesson in life, as well. Daniel has been setup, and persecuted for praying to His God. It appears that he’s going to die a horrible death because of it in a Lion’s Den. But God had other plans.

It’s one thing to serve and obey the Lord when things are going great, but what about when the heat is on and your very own life is threatened if you do? Today on a Daily Walk we’re encouraged to trust and follow the Lord just as Daniel did. He was told not to pray and if he did he’d be thrown into a den of lions. That didn’t deter Daniel as we’ll soon see.

We live in a world that is becoming more and more hostile toward Christians. All around the world we see the persecution of believers growing at an alarming rate. When we left you last time we saw a very proud, arrogant King was brought low. He hit rock bottom, and was even living like an animal. Thankfully by God’s grace King Nebuchadnezzar was restored after this humbling experience. It’s a reminder to all, that God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble.
