Daniel 6, Part 3

Don’t love those stories or movies where the good guys win in the end? But in many cases getting to that end can be treacherous. Daniel knew this all too well and perhaps you’re learning this important lesson in life, as well. Daniel has been setup, and persecuted for praying to His God. It appears that he’s going to die a horrible death because of it in a Lion’s Den. But God had other plans.

It’s one thing to serve and obey the Lord when things are going great, but what about when the heat is on and your very own life is threatened if you do? Today on a Daily Walk we’re encouraged to trust and follow the Lord just as Daniel did. He was told not to pray and if he did he’d be thrown into a den of lions. That didn’t deter Daniel as we’ll soon see.

We live in a world that is becoming more and more hostile toward Christians. All around the world we see the persecution of believers growing at an alarming rate. And we even see the beginnings of that here in America. Today on a Daily Walk, Pastor John Randall teaches from Daniel chapter 6 about the persecution of Daniel that landed him in the lion’s den.

When we left you last time we saw a very proud, arrogant King was brought low. He hit rock bottom, and was even living like an animal. Thankfully by God’s grace King Nebuchadnezzar was restored after this humbling experience. It’s a reminder to all, that God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble.

You may recall last time we met Nebuchadnezzar had a troubling dream and he goes on a quest to discover its meaning. In the verses before us today on a Daily Walk God is going to reveal the interpretation to Daniel and he would then relay the explanation of the dream to the King!

Today on a Daily Walk we’ll see how God got a King’s attention through his sleep, and in doing so revealed world history. There are many places in Scripture where the Lord chose to speak and reveal through dreams, and Daniel 2 is one such place.

Pastor John Randall is in the early stages of his verse by verse study of Daniel. Daniel was a young man who stood for Christ, and was determined not to be defiled, in a society that was very wicked. It’s not hard to see we live in a similar environment, but we too can honor God with our lives. John encourages us in that direction today on a Daily Walk.
