A Daily Walk

A Question of Identity Part 1

March 28, 2024

I think it’s safe to say most of us want to be well liked by others.   But maybe you’ve noticed, if you live for the Lord and walk as Jesus walked, not everyone will pat you on the back.  In fact, at times we’ll be hated.  The world hated Jesus, and even His own family rejected Him.  And we can expect similar treatment as well.  Today on a Daily Walk that comes to our attention through a study in John seven.

When we’re hungry, we know what to do..... we either open the fridge and cook something up, or go out to eat and satisfy our hunger that way.  But what do we do with our spiritual hunger?  As we’ll see today on a Daily Walk, not everyone goes about trying to satisfy it the right way.  In fact, most don’t.   Pastor John Randall is in the gospel of John, and today he attracts our attention to Christ- the source of everlasting life.  We can either accept or reject that.   We’re in John chapter six.

When a storm hits our lives, like the Lion in the Wizard of Oz, we often lack the courage we need to make it through.  Instead we frequently resort to worry and fear.  Today on a Daily Walk you’ll meet the Lord of the Sea who can help us through anything we face in life.  When we left you last time, Jesus had just fed thousands of people with merely five loaves and two fish.  Following this, comes another incredible miracle.  Jesus is about to walk on water and teach his disciples, and us, yet another valuable lesson.

John chapter six will be the centerpiece of our study.  Imagine hosting a get together, and discover that you don’t have enough food to go around.  That would be quite embarrassing, right?  But in our day and age the problem could probably be rectified by making a trip to the grocery store, or making a phone call to a local restaurant.  This luxury wasn’t available in the days of Christ, making what we’re about to read even more astounding.  Five loaves and two fish. Perhaps enough to feed a couple of people, but certainly not five thousand, right?  Nothing is impossible for God as you'll hear today.

We take another look at the Sermon on the Mount, today on a Daily Walk with pastor John Randall.  Maybe you’ve noticed sin sure looks worse on others than it does in ourselves.  We’re quick to point the finger and say, “oh how could they.”  But we overlook our own faults.  As we open up Matthew seven Jesus makes it clear we’re not to judge hypocritically. And before you confront someone, make sure you take care of what’s going on in your own life.

In a court of law, a witness is one who gives testimony, who has personally seen or perceived something.  And we all know that serves as evidence.  A good witness can make or break a case.  Recently on the program we’ve heard some radical claims of diety from Jesus but how do we know it’s true?  Today on a Daily Walk, we’ll encounter five very credible witnesses of Christ who establish His claims.

Pastor John Randall will be continuing our study of John’s gospel, with another look into chapter five.  In this chapter Jesus heals a man, then He’s persecuted.  And finally He confronts this persecution by claiming equality with God.

Imagine having a sickness for 38 years, and unable to take care of yourself. I think it’s safe to say, most in that situation would suffer with feelings of hopelessness and despair.  We find a man in that desperate condition today on a Daily Walk. Jesus is about to restore this man to complete health, and we’ll take a look at this inspirational story here in the minutes that lie ahead of us.

Empty and lonely, that would describe the woman we’re about to meet in John chapter four.  She had been going from relationship to relationship, and left unsatisfied.  Maybe that’s where you’re at today?  Join us as we’ll discover what truly satisfies and it has to do with living water.

Today we take you to John chapter four, where Jesus has a divine appointment with a woman from Samaria.   Now this lady, like many living today was trying to fill a need in her life with things that couldn’t.  She’s about to learn that only Christ can bring satisfaction and meet her innermost needs.  Maybe that’s exactly what you’re in need of today?  Won’t you join us, as we continue to see who Jesus is and what He’ll do in our lives if we’ll allow Him to.

In the sermon on the mount, The Lord said, “Judge not, lest you be judged.” It’s become one of the most misused and misunderstood statements ever uttered by Jesus. You’ll hear that phrase often invoked to excuse all sorts of bad behavior. But is that an accurate usage of the Lord’s words? Is Jesus saying, we’re to refrain from exercising discernment? Pastor John Randall doesn’t think so. And he’ll show us why as he continues a study in the Sermon on the Mount. We’ve come to the seventh chapter of Matthew - where Jesus takes on the subject of judging others and the importance of being gracious in our dealings with people.
