John Randall

A Powerful Witness, Part 2

January 7, 2019

Last time we had just begun to get to know the two witnesses, described for us in chapter eleven of Revelation. As is the case with much of this book, debate has raged over the real identity of the two preachers, and Pastor John will point out the varying opinions that exist. We’ll also find out today that we too as Christians our witnesses of Jesus, to represent heaven.

We’ve been studying the Book of Revelation here lately.   During the Tribulation period the Lord will send out two witnesses to testify of His grace, love and forgiveness.  Though they’ll have the power and authority of God they’ll be opposed at every turn.  Similarly we’re called to be God’s witnesses in a hostile environment.  Thankfully we have the power of the Spirit to help.

Today, we make a return visit to Revelation chapter ten. This chapter is a chance to catch our collective breaths after the cataclysmic events in chapter nine.  We’re in between the sixth and seventh trumpet judgment.  Pastor John Randall has noticed a mystery here... the mystery of God.  And it’s about to be fully revealed.

Today we begin a look at chapter ten of Revelation, and after the destruction and it's a chance to catch our breath and meet a big Angel with a little book. There has been much speculation over the years as to the identity of this Angel. In fact, some suggest it may very well be Jesus Christ. Pastor John Randall doesn’t think so, and he’ll explain why in today's lesson.

You’ve no doubt heard the expression “If you want to stop digging the hole that you’re in put down the shovel.”  Pastor John Randall continues today in the book of Revelation.  In chapter nine we hear of the future judgments coming to this earth and despite all the torment the people experience they still won’t change. They won’t put the shovel down. There’s a lesson there for us.

We visit Revelation nine today on a Daily Walk.  At this point in the Great Tribulation people are now subject to supernatural tormenting of demonic spirits!  Why you may ask?  All in an attempt to get men’s attention, so they’ll turn to God and be saved.

What would you do to get someone’s attention? If your neighbor’s house was on fire would you break a window to get their attention? What would God do to get the attention of a world that’s about to burn down so to speak? We’ll find out on a Daily Walk.  Pastor John Randall is in the middle of his study of Revelation and in chapter eight the seven trumpet judgments are sounding.  The first four deal with the physical world, and things we often take for granted are impacted in a big way.

I wonder if the reason we rarely pray is because we think God doesn’t hear our prayers?  But He does!  Maybe not the way we want or expect, but He does answer.  Today on a Daily Walk we come to Revelation chapter eight. The seventh seal is about to be opened and there’s silence in heaven. You’ll soon see it’s because God is listening.

“What can wash away my sin nothing but the blood of Jesus!”   Don’t you love that hymn?  The blood of Jesus, it’s one of the many things we thank God for as believers.  Even in heaven we’ll remember the blood of the Lamb.  Without it we wouldn’t be there and couldn’t be saved.   Today on a Daily Walk we focus on what is seen, and what is said in heaven.

See if this sounds familiar… you exchange some gifts with a family member or friend. And after opening them, you suddenly realize the gift you got them was nowhere near the much greater value of the gift you received.  It’s kind of embarrassing right?  Today on a Daily Walk we’ll discover that God has a gift exchange for you that will literally blow you away.  It’s lopsided to be sure, but you don’t have to feel bad about it.

On this Christmas Eve we’re really looking forward to sharing today’s special Christmas message from John Randall called, “The Gift Exchange.” We’ll be turning to a prophecy spoken in Isaiah 61 about the birth and ministry of Jesus.  What is the Christmas story all about?  The world today is confused about that, but this chapter in Isaiah really answers that for us.
