I Have Overcome the World Part 1

April 25, 2024

Pastor John Randall is leading us through the Gospel of John right now, and today we find Christ preparing His disciples for what was ahead of them.  In just a few short hours, Jesus would be on the cross, and He would be leaving them.  But He would not leave them alone, for His Holy Spirit would soon enter the scene.  Just as He would help them through life, He’s our great helper too!  We’ll be covering John chapter sixteen.

Living in the Daze of Deception
There’s no question that Satan loves to deceive.  He’s been at it since the Garden.  And we can expect that to only increase in the last days.  How do we combat these lies and avoid getting lead astray?  We’d like to recommend a book from Jack Hibbs called, “Living in the Daze of Deception.”  Foreward by Mike Pompeo.  This national bestseller is available right now to our a Daily Walk listeners for the cost of just ten dollars.

In chapter fifteen of John Jesus said if we would abide in Him we would bear much fruit.  And as we’ll see today, there are tremendous blessings that come to those who abide.  In fact, pastor John Randall has identified eight in the passage before us today.  So if you’re ready to be blessed, turn to John fifteen and let’s discover the blessings of abiding.

Those of you who have a fruit tree in the back of your yard, probably look forward to harvest time, when you can enjoy the “fruit” of your labor.  After all the pruning, thinning, watering, and fertilizing, you should end up with something to show for it right?  If the tree didn’t produce some good fruit you’d start to think something is wrong.  Similarly, the Christian is to bear spiritual fruit, and when there is little or none, there is great cause for concern.  Pastor John Randall takes us to John chapter fifteen where we learn about spiritual fruit from the True Vine Himself.

A failing marriage, the loss of a job, a rebellious son or daughter refusing to abide by the rules of the house, sickness, and the loss of a loved one.  Throughout life, there are many things that bring us down, but it’s at that time that we need to look up.   In John chapter fourteen, the disciples are greatly troubled, and it’s interesting to see where Jesus directs them... right on up to their future home in heaven.  Let’s seek to apply these comforting words to our lives by joining pastor John Randall.  We’re talking about the remedy for a troubled heart on a Daily Walk.

A troubled heart - it’s something we all encounter at one time or another.  And maybe you have a heavy heart as we speak?  The disciples were troubled as well, when they realized their teacher and friend was about to leave them.  But I’m happy to say there is a remedy for such a condition! Turn to John chapter fourteen and let’s draw some comfort from the words of Jesus.

There’s no debating the fact that in this world of ours the majority would much rather be served than serve.  That’s often the case in the church sad to say.  Just look at the average church and their struggle to fill volunteer roles in the nursery, Sunday School teachers, sound ministry workers, and on and on it goes.   We’ll see how greatness is built on the foundation of servanthood today on a Daily Walk as John Randall resumes his study of John.

We’re about to sit in on an argument between the disciples over the question, “Who’s going to be the greatest in the kingdom of God?”  It’s interesting how Jesus would respond, and through it all we discover a valuable lesson on what’s really important in life.  And what a needed reminder for life as we know it in the year 2024.  Pastor John Randall has us turn to the thirteenth chapter of John today on a Daily Walk where we see Jesus lay down a beautiful example of what a servant should look like.

Many of us have run across sceptics and agnostics who claim that if they could only see visible proof of God, or some sort of sign, then they’d believe.  Today on a Daily Walk pastor John Randall will show us that even after Jesus had performed many signs, there were still those that wouldn’t believe. Which just goes to show you, that even when many people see signs and wonders- they often still reject Jesus. We’ll see a number of reasons people don’t believe in John chapter twelve.   It’s a good time to consider our own spiritual state.  Are you living in darkness and need to repent and trust in Christ?

If you knew you only had a few hours to live, what would you do for those last precious moments? A Lot of people would probably enjoy a big meal, travel or spend time with family. When Jesus Christ knew that the time had come for Him to be arrested and crucified, what did He do?  He prays that the Father would be glorified!  One of the best ways to understand the heart of Jesus Christ is to look at the things He did in the last hours of His life, when He knew He was about to be crucified.   Let’s do that with pastor John.

Today on a Daily Walk our teacher, pastor John Randall will present a message on false prophets and teachers. This teaching is based on the Sermon on the Mount, in Matthew chapter seven. False teachers are certainly prevalent today as they were in Jesus’ day. Christ warns us that these false prophets are ravenous wolves in sheep’s clothing. That should serve as a wake-up call to every believer to learn to tell the difference from a true man of God and a ravenous wolf. Today we’ll discover that to learn a man’s intent, you need look no further than his life, and the fruit he bears.
