As Christians, we have countless reasons to celebrate this Easter Sunday. By God’s amazing grace, as the popular song goes, we are receiving His gift of Salvation through the death and resurrection of His Son, Jesus Christ.
The stillness of Holy Saturday is a deep expression of the Sabbath. Just as God rested from the activity of creation on the seventh day, so then Jesus rested from the activity of re-creation on this seventh day.
On the Friday of his crucifixion, Jesus faced the wrath of God not for himself but for us. He took on our sin, our shame, and our humiliation. When I think about Jesus' sacrifice, which I would do better to meditate on frequently, I am, more often than not, left speechless.
