When Jesus Observes Our Suffering

In present-day Turkey is a city called Izmir. Now turn the clock back two thousand years and that city is called Smyrna, the site of one of the seven churches Jesus spoke of in the book of Revelation. In chapter two He tells the church at Smyrna, "I know your afflictions and your poverty, yet you are rich!" Today: we'll see what the Lord Himself says about afflictions and poverty: words we must heed in our day of affluence and ease.
