Getting Back to the Foundation
January 28, 2023
We need to go back to the foundation. We have gotten ourselves into a great mess. We have perverted God's foundation and rebelled against him through our actions. Now, we need to realize that and to turn around before its too late. This message is a call for repentance.

When the Holy Spirit is poured out, powerful preaching results. Today, powerful preaching has been put aside for lectures and talks from the pulpit. Powerful preachers are few and far between. There is a drought of the Word of God in the land. When the Holy Spirit comes in power, powerful preaching will return. When the Holy Spirit returns in power, God will raise up powerful preachers to call this nation to repentance. May the Lord raise up another George Whitefield to set this nation on fire and bring it to its knees by the power of the Holy Spirit.

God will not forsake His Church. It's light will yet shine. God will defend and protect His people. He is not finished with His Church. There is more yet to come. Satan has not won the battle but his doom is sure.

Jesus took away our sins on the cross. This message is concerned with that removal. Let us look at the great day of the cross.

Ezekiel lived during the time of the first exile. What he said concerning the restoration of the Jews to their land certainly could be at least partially applied to their first return from captivity under Ezra and Nehemiah. Yet Ezekiel's prophecy seems to go beyond this first exile to a much later time.

Is the church doomed to failure in this age? Some seem to teach that. However, is that what the Bible teaches?

The repentance of a people is the Biblical response to disasters. It is true that we should not see every natural disaster as a punishment for some sin that individuals have committed. Yet, on the other hand we cannot completely rule out the possibility that repeated disasters on a nation might be God's judgement on a people. The Bible is full of such and we harm ourselves to ignore clear Biblical implications of repeated disasters upon a people.

The church is now the true spiritual Israel. All who are true believers make up the true Israel of God both Jew and Gentile. The nation of Israel and all the Jewish people need Christ just as much as anyone. Our prayer should be that Israel will become a Christian nation that follows the Lord Jesus Christ and that all Jews will come to Christ.

Hudson Taylor believed in the Second Coming of Christ but he did not become preoccupied with it. He marched forward into inland China with the goal of reaching all of China with the gospel. He saw this as what the Lord had called him to do and he did not relent untill all the provinces of China were penetrated with the gospel. Today, we have far too many prophecy conferences. We don't need them. We know Jesus is going to return. What we need is to be spurred on to carry the gospel to the nations and not to relent until the whole world is won to Christ.

Today, we are defiling the land by our sins. God's judgement is already upon us and will increase if we do not soon repent as a people. We cannot continue to rebel against God and His moral law and survive as a nation.

Repentance will not happen unless God changes our hearts as a people. This is what we need to pray for. The nation will not turn back to God until the hearts of the people are changed. This will not take place until a Spiritual Revival comes.
