Believing Faith

Martha with a simple childlike faith believed what Jesus said and believed that He was the Messiah, that He was the Son of God, and that he was the promised One that should come into the world. Her faith was simple but her faith was firm. This is the kind of faith that we need. This is saving faith. To simply believe Jesus at His word and to put our trust in Him.

All of us will experience death at some point. Some die young. Others die old. Yet we will all have to experience it. Death, however, is won over in the Resurrection which all who are believers in Christ Jesus will experience. It will be a resurrection to life eternal. Today, we want to talk about that resurrection and how we can be sure to experience it.

The Lord preserves and rescues His Church. So, we need not despair. God is able to do more than we can imagine. We must pray for His Church to grow and prosper in this world and for Satan and all his forces to be defeated.

When a nation gives itself up to sexual immorality, it will face judgment. We think we can do anything and get away with it but we have forgotten what happened so long ago to Sodom and Gomorrah. They went their own way. They sought after things that were not right in the sight of God and they paid the penalty. We will too if we do not repent,.

We need to be careful that we don't get so wrapped up in modern technology that the media presentation becomes more important than the sermon itself. We may meet in a sanctuary with all the state of the art technical devices such as multiple screens, the most powerful projectors, the best sounding audio equipment, and superior acoustics. Yet, powerful preaching is not there. We have substituted something else and lost the most important thing. Great revivals have always been accompanied by powerful preaching. We should not expect revival to come until powerful preaching returns to our pulpits.

We are not awaitng some kingdom in the future to enjoy fellowship but we have that fellowship now in the church. Yet, we do look forward to an eternal and abiding fellowship in the future eternal kingdom. We all have loved ones with whom we have enjoyed fellowship in this life who have gone on ahead of us to be with the Lord. We have the hope of eternal life and a renewed fellowship with them in the eternal kingdom that is yet to come. However, we have that fellowship around the table of the Lord here and now in the present gospel age. The kingdom is now. The kingdom is yet to come.

Satan and his forces will not be defeated by military power but by a spiritual power that they cannot overcome. Christ's kingdom by the power of the Holy Spirit will deal a death blow to Satan's influence in this world. Today, we must not become too discouraged when we see Satan and his forces raging all around us. We must look ahead with great vision and optimism and know by faith that God's kingdom will be victorious in this world.

Our only hope as a nation is a national spiritual revival. That will not come unless God sends it. That is why we need to pray and ask for God's mercy on our country and people. Only a visitation from God is going to heal our land. Divorcing ourselves from God as a nation and a people will only reap disaster. We should never listen to those who want to completely secularize the nation. They are wrong. We need God. We cannot survive as a people without Him. We can learn from Daniel's prayer. He was praying for a nation and a people. Our nation is not Israel but we can learn some principles from this prayer that apply to our nation today.

While our political and government leaders haggle over the economy and almost totally disregard our great sins as a people, we must get on our knees and pray and stand in the gap lest we as a people and a nation are destroyed as sinful nations in the past have been. Daniel could have remained silent but he didn't. He pleaded with God to have mercy on His people and land and nation.

Some think our nation is exempt from God's judgment. We sin and then we ask God to bless America. We act as if we deserve God's blessing. Yet, we fail to realize that whatever blessings we have received as a nation have come upon us because of the generations who have gone before us who feared God. We are reaping what others have sowed in this land. Yet, that time of reaping is coming to an end. Judgment is already upon us because of our great sins and will continue if we do not repent as a people.
