A Sinful Society Brings God's Wrath

August 21, 2021

Sinful living will bring God's wrath. This is a lesson we will learn and a lesson that is now being taught whether we realize it or not. A godly society brings the blessings of God. A sinful society brings God's wrath upon it. Prosperity comes to a nation that honors God. A nation that dishonors God will not prosper. This is a lesson we are going to learn. Yet, we must pray for a national spiritual revival. That is our only hope.

Sowing to sinful living will reap destruction. Our greatest need today is not to revamp the economy. Our greatest need is a national spiritual revival. Such revivals have come in times past and they can come again if God sees fit to send them. Yet, our sins are piled up to heaven and we will reap destruction if we do not repent as a people and as a nation. God's wrath is upon us even now and it will increase. Yet, we must pray for mercy and ask for revival to come before it is too late.

The provision for us to find God has been made through Jesus' death on the cross. Apart from the cross man will never be able to find God and be right with Him. That is the Christian message. You need the cross. Without it, you are lost. We need to lift high the cross and call all men to come to Jesus.

The church is the spiritual Mount Zion. This was what the old hymn writers so clearly saw. They had a high view of the church. The earthly Jerusalem has its foundation on earth but the heavenly Jerusalem is from heaven and that's the Jerusalem that we should be seeking.

Is the church going to get so weak that it will go down in defeat and have to escape this age as so many teach today or will the church expand and be victorious and remain to the very last day of this age? In contrast to modern day prophets, Isaiah predicts an ever expanding church that will remain and be victorious.

Isaiah paints a glorious picture of the gospel age and the spreading of the gospel among the nations. It all began in Jerusalem and is now spreading throughout the world and it will continue until all the nations and peoples come to the Lord and acknowledge Him. We must believe that. It is not over. There is much yet in the future for the gospel age. The future of the church is glorious in this age. The prophets declare it and we must accept their vision by faith.

God promises the universal spread of the gospel. The church will not go down in defeat in this age. We can be assured of that because God's promises are true. Modern day prophets who announce the church's doom are lying. Be sure of that. God does not lie and it is on his promises that we must rely.

There is only one true salvation. There is only one true God and one true salvation. If we neglect that true God and that true salvation, then we are doomed. Our forefathers recognized both and established a great nation on this land. Today, we are in much danger of forsaking the true God and the true salvation. If we do, then our nation is doomed. However, it is not too late. We need a national spiritual revival.

A nation that fears the Lord will prosper. Where does prosperity come from? It will not come from our own efforts. It will come when God blesses us. He will not bless us if we continue in our rebellion against Him. Our greatest need today is a national spiritual revival.

Our vision is too short if we believe we are the terminal generation. The Psalmist looked ahead to a generation that would yet be born. He looked ahead to a church that would proclaim the gospel to future generations. Should we do any less today. Jesus has promised that the gates of hell would not be able to stop His church. (Matthew 16:18) If we give up on the church today, we are denying our Lord's own words. Future generations are yet to come who will serve the Lord. We must believe that.

No matter how bad things look there is hope because God is there. He has acted before in bad times and He can act again. Some of the greatest revivals that have ever occurred came when all seemed to be hopeless. There was a time of darkness and then light dawned. We believe that can happen again.
