A Nation that has Fallen from Righteousness

Now, we are living in a time of great spiritual and moral decline in this land. God's judgment on the nation has already begun though we refuse to see it. Will we continue in this decline or will things change for the better? Will we become a more righteous nation in the future? Will we once again return to the God of our forefathers? All of that remains to be seen. We have sunk to a low that we have never reached before. Only a tremendous outpouring of the Spirit of God can bring us back. It is for this that we must constantly pray.

Our forefathers had a vision for the nation. However, today we have lost that vision. We have turned away from the hearts of our fathers and we have sought out another way. Our hearts are far from God as a people and we need to repent.

Though it may be okay for Christians to drink in moderation. Yet, there may be a good case for abstaining from drink for the cause of righteousness.When we are living in a sinful and wicked society where men and women bow down and worship idols of all sorts, we need to be careful how we live. Drunkeness is wrong. Abstaining from drink is commendable. The Bible teaches both.

Sinful living will bring God's wrath. This is a lesson we will learn and a lesson that is now being taught whether we realize it or not. A godly society brings the blessings of God. A sinful society brings God's wrath upon it.

Sowing to sinful living will reap destruction. Our sins are piled up to heaven and we will reap destruction if we do not repent as a people and as a nation. God's wrath is upon us even now and it will increase. Yet, we must pray for mercy and ask for revival to come before its too late.

The provision for us to find God has been made through Jesus' death on the cross. Apart from the cross man will never be able to find God and be right with Him. This is the Christian message. You need the cross. Without it, you are lost.

Jesus was our substitute on the cross. It is through that one sacrifice that we are saved. It was for all time. It happened only once and will never happen again. We must look to that one sacrifice for our only salvation.

The church is the spiritual Mount Zion. This was what the old hymn writers so clearly saw. They had a high view of the church. The earthly Jerusalem has its foundation on earth but the heavenly Jerusalem is from heaven and that's the Jerusalem that we are seeking.

Isaiah paints a glorious picture of the gospel age and the spreading of the gospel among the nations. It all began in Jerusalem and is now spreading throughout the world and it will continue untill all the nations and peoples come to the Lord and acknowledge Him.

The gospel will prevail in this world. We have God's promise and He does not lie. The church will not go down in defeat in this age. We can be assured of that because God's promises are true.
