As the world gets darker and becomes more and more difficult to be a Christian we have a choice to make. Will we stand for the Lord and prepare our children, or will we head for the hills in surrender? We’ll meet you in Esther chapter four and take a look at the very famous verse, “For such as time as this.” It’s a call to stand for the Lord and to prepare our children for the challenges they’ll face in life. And it will be a battle.

It’s been said that God builds character in the appointments of life as well as the disappointments. And you may have noticed we have little control in these areas. So to learn how to roll with our circumstances rather than get angry about them is important to say the least. In the book of Esther we have the historical account of a high official in the ancient Persian Empire named Haman who’s unable to control a Jew named Mordecai. It makes him furious to the point where Haman in his anger not only seeks to murder Mordecai but all Jews.

It's been said, “Uncontrolled anger makes us destroyers rather than builders.” So we must be on our guard. Today’s Study The Word with Thom Keller will help us do just that. History is riddled with proof of what satanically inspired anger against God’s people can lead to. Case in point: Haman’s anger toward Mordecai. It’s recorded for us in the Old Testament book of Esther.

There’s an old proverb that says, “First a man takes a drink - then the drink takes the man.” We’ll see an example of that today on Study The Word with pastor Thom Keller. The book of Esther has a lot to say about the dangers of drunkenness. We’ll meet a King who has the ability to do whatever he wants and it leads to disaster. Demonstrating among other things that wealth and power are no guarantee of happiness and that the wealthy are not always wise.
