Among the ancient wonders of the world, the Great Pyramid stands above the rest. Cloaked in mystery, the Great Pyramid stands as a testament to ancient knowledge that baffles modern man. The location and construction of this structure are architecturally, mathematically, and astronomically precise. But for what purpose? How did the ancient peoples have this level of understanding? We turn back the clock over 15 years to hear long-time Southwest Radio host Noah Hutchings unravel mysteries behind the Great Pyramid.

The Great Pyramid is one of the most remarkable and fascinating structures in the world. It still draws a lot of attention to this present day. Many questions swirl around its origin and its intentions. Who built it? How did they have such advanced knowledge? And why did they build such a structure?

We're going to turn back the clock over 15 years to hear the long-time host of SWRC, Noah Hutchings. He wrote a best-selling book called *The Great Pyramid: Prophecy in Stone*, and during this anniversary month, we're pleased to offer a commemorative 30th-anniversary edition of this book.

In the last 15-plus years since this episode originally aired, researchers have made some amazing discoveries about the Great Pyramid. Some of those discoveries include using advanced technology. They have detected a 30-meter corridor back in 2023. Now that follows a 2017 discovery of a large void. Now this hidden corridor was verified just last year as archaeologists confirmed the 30-meter long tunnel last year, and further exploration into its purpose, which they think could potentially lead to a burial chamber, is planned for this year.

They're also using advanced robotic technology deployed to inaccessible shafts that provide detailed video footage of certain areas of the structure. It's fascinating to see the kinds of things that they are uncovering. Noah Hutchings begins this classic episode by highlighting several of the ancient wonders of the world included in his book and describes why the Great Pyramid stands above the rest.

Noah Hutchings: We're talking about the number one wonder of the ancient world. There's a list of seven ancient wonders. Of course, the Great Pyramid is the number one ancient wonder of all the wonders of the ancient world. I would just like to reference, before we get to the Great Pyramid again, just mention some of the seven wonders of the world. There's the Pharos Lighthouse of Alexandria. That was on an island just where the Nile River goes into the Mediterranean because ships were foundering there. They built a lighthouse there on a little island out there in the Mediterranean Sea and some reports had it to be 600 feet high. It was an amazing structure. Of course, I've been by there, but the lighthouse is not there anymore.

The walls of Babylon are also as one of the great wonders of the ancient world. The reason they were so magnificent was they were 300 feet high, 35 feet below the ground to keep armies from digging under them. The walls were 80 feet thick, and they had 250 towers with gates of brass. So they were really an amazing wall. Nebuchadnezzar really built the walls of Babylon. Of course, I was there when Babylon was being restored by Saddam Hussein, much of it.

Another one of the ancient wonders of the world was the Mausoleum of Halicarnassus. Mausolus was a ruler there and he died, and his wife thought so much of him, she made a museum magnificent building there. It was so magnificent that we have mausoleums now named after Mausolus. Of course, we've been by there; it was one of the ancient wonders. Another was the Temple of Artemis of Diana at Ephesus. Of course, it was there when Paul was there. It was destroyed by an earthquake and on the site they built the Church of St. John later. Of course, we've been there and the tomb of St. John is there in the courtyard. The walls of the church were still there the last time I was there.

The Colossus of Rhodes was about a 300-foot brass statue on Rhodes after one of the ancient gods, and it was listed as one of the ancient wonders of the world. An earthquake took care of that and we've been there where the statue stood several times. I think a junk dealer came by about 200 BC and bought the junk and that was the end of Colossus of Rhodes, but it was a magnificent statue. It could be seen for 100 miles, ships coming into the island of Rhodes.

Another was the statue of Zeus at Olympia in Greece. Of course, we've been there also to the Temple of Zeus at Pergamos. We've been there. Hanging Gardens of Babylon, of course, we've been there. They're no longer there, but they were evidently magnificent gardens that looked like they were hanging in the sky. Other items of the ancient world that were noted: Temples of Luxor and Karnak. Luxor is just unbelievable, the temples there, the statues some 100, 200 feet high. You wonder how in the world they ever got them, how they carved all that out of stone, and how they moved them there either. How did they get all that tremendous thousands of tons of weight moved around? It's just unbelievable that these ancient peoples did that.

The Valley of the Kings across the Nile from Luxor, of course, that's just unbelievable, the temples of the kings into the mountains there. We've been there. Queen Hatshepsut's Mausoleum, her lover whose name was Architect made that temple there. It's just unbelievable and after that, I think all designers of temples or buildings were called architects, but that's where they got the name. Architect was Queen Hatshepsut's lover who made her temple, a mausoleum. It's still there.

The Land of a Thousand Mounds in Galatia, of course, is great. We've been through there. No one knows who made these mounds, when they were made, but it's one of the mysteries of the ancient world. The Stonehenge in England, we've been there. The monoliths of Easter Island, I have not been there; I've seen one of the monoliths, though. Petra in Jordan, I've been there many times. It's now one of the wonders of the ancient world. I have a book on Petra in history and prophecy and of course, we have a DVD that's played on TV programs across the country. The Great Wall of China, that's the only man-made structure that can be seen from the moon. 2,000 miles, just unbelievable, those who have been to the Great Wall of China.

Then the last item I will mention is the Terracotta Army of Xi'an. That's in Western China off the Yellow River. Unbelievable, an ancient Chinese king built an army of thousands of soldiers. Each soldier is different; they have a different look on their face, they're all different personalities. You think of somebody maybe 400 to 500 BC doing that. Just amazing with all their armaments and artillery and it's there at Xi'an. Those who have been there and seen that, it's just one of the amazing wonders of the ancient world. So all these are wonders, but there's still no wonder like the Great Pyramid.

Host (Male): There are fantastic mysteries surrounding the Great Pyramid. Consider a few mentioned in Noah Hutchings' book, *The Great Pyramid: Prophecy in Stone*. Now he says, let's assume that there were people who hacked out some 2,600,000 giant blocks from quarries. What kind of tools did they use to carve out the stone? There was no dynamite, no explosives in those days. Where did they get the tools?

After the blocks were quarried, how were they dressed? Some of those stones were fitted with seamless joints. Dressing would require a minimum pressure of two tons. Where does a primitive workman get the kind of equipment to apply that amount of pressure? How do you get the stones to a building site in Giza? How could a small country like Egypt feed all those workers? There are so many questions surrounding how such a structure could have been built with ancient technologies as we know it. How is this even possible? Noah Hutchings continues to explore this mystery as we return to this classic Watchman on the Wall episode during this special anniversary week.

Noah Hutchings: The Great Pyramid is certainly an amazing structure. Again, I would quote from the May 14th, 1969 edition of London Times that says, "Scientists have been trying to X-ray the pyramid at Giza near Cairo are baffled by mysterious influences that are throwing into utter confusion the reading of that space-age electronic equipment." It goes on about what they're doing here to try to find out the mysteries of the Great Pyramid.

We remember the 1970s. You know, they had a pyramid craze that people were making pyramid-shaped structures and sleeping in them to get rid of headaches and rheumatism and all that, and then made others to sharpen razor blades or to keep milk from spoiling and food from spoiling and all that. I don't know how effective they were or what was proven by all that, but there was a big craze going on when all these experiments were being made in the pyramid.

So evidently there are some strange forces that are associated with the Great Pyramid. We don't have time in order to go into all of them on the broadcast today. However, I would like to reference Dr. Luis Alvarez, who was winner of the 1968 Nobel Prize for Physics, who developed the method of measuring cosmic rays streaming through the pyramids so we could understand the superior scientific knowledge that went into their construction, that it would be extremely difficult to duplicate or to even decipher. Dr. Roseberry said of these scientific experiments, "Even with our marvelous computers, man can't solve the enigma of the pyramid."

Next on this classic episode, Noah Hutchings outlines several mathematical facts that prove the ancients had access to amazing scientific and astronomical information. As you listen to the facts and figures that Noah will present from this 2010 episode, ask yourself, could this be merely a coincidence?

Noah Hutchings: Now the Great Pyramid is mathematically perfect in its geographic location which, according to Isaiah 19:19-20, is in the middle of Egypt and on the border between the old kingdom of upper and lower Egypt. So we don't have to be in ignorance in not knowing that the Great Pyramid is mentioned in scripture. In 1968, Professor Mitchell of the United States Survey Service was sent to report on the construction of the Suez Canal, and while studying maps of the coastal region of Egypt, he was intrigued by the curvature of the shoreline of the Nile Delta. He drew a curved line through all the prominent locations along the coast and found that the line formed an arc whose center was located at the site of the Great Pyramid, just like the Bible indicates.

The Great Pyramid was constructed on solid rock that was leveled around the baselines with cornerstones which were sunk eight inches into the rock. Measurements were made in the Hebrew cubit, and the Hebrew cubit is 25.025 inches in length, that's a little over two feet. The length of each baseline around the pyramid is 365.2422 cubits. Now what is so strange or why is that important? Well, it's the exact number of days in the solar year, again referencing Enoch who was the year man. He lived 365 years. Our calendar is 365 days plus an extra day is added every fourth in the month of February to allow for the fraction of the day, meaning that it takes a little more than 365 days exactly for the earth to go around the sun. It's 365 days and a few hours. So that's why we add the extra day every fourth year.

The angle of slope on the sides of the pyramid is such that they meet at an apex at a predetermined height of 232.52. Now why did the designer make it exactly this height? Now that'd be about 500 feet. Now why? When twice the length of the base is divided by this number, we get the number 3.14159 or Pi, the relationship of the diameter of a circle to its circumference. When the diagonals of the pyramid base in pyramid inches are added together, the sum total is exactly 25,827 inches, the years of the precession of the equinoxes.

It is astounding to think that such knowledge was possible 5,000 years ago, before the birth of the space age and all its complex computers. Such a wisdom greater than man's must have been in the designing and construction of the Great Pyramid. We have to wonder about how did these ancients know all this and how could such a perfect building be constructed 500 feet high, such a monstrous building that would stand for 5,000 years without even slipping a quarter of an inch. It's just amazing that this could have happened.

According to George Riffert, author of the book *The Great Pyramid: Proof of God*, the pyramid stands in the exact center of the landmass of the world. Furthermore, by multiplying its total weight by one trillion, we arrive at a figure equal to the weight of the earth. The cornerstones at the four base points determine true east, west, north, and south on the compass so that when the sun crosses the equinox, no shadow is cast anywhere on all four sides. This is proven that it would have taken an astounding astronomer with knowledge of the sun, the earth, and its movements to come to this kind of construction.

Host (Male): Okay everybody, it's time to take out a piece of paper; it's time for a pop quiz. You got to remember all those mathematical equations that were just mentioned. Now I'm joking, I'm joking. But I just want to come back to the question I asked before we listened to that segment from Noah Hutchings' 2010 teaching: Could this be a sheer coincidence? I think not. This fascinating study of the Great Pyramid is shrouded in a lot of mystery. Larry Stamm: Shalom friends, Larry Stamm here. So glad you are joining us as we continue in our series, "Serving in His Court: Biblical Principles for Personal Evangelism from the Heart of a Coach." We're continuing in this part of our series talking about dealing with questions and objections. We have mentioned that it's imperative in our Christian witness to first and foremost find out if the objection or the question is sincere. Once we find out if someone is genuine in their inquiry or their objection, then we move forward. If somebody is not sincere, if they're just trying to jerk our chain, say, "Listen, I respect you. I don't want to waste your time; I know you don't want to waste mine," and then move on. It doesn't necessarily mean that we'll cut somebody off or we'll stop being in a relationship with a person who's in our regular sphere of influence, but as far as giving answers and providing responses to somebody who's not interested in the least of grappling with answers and responses, don't waste your time. We need to speak the truth in love and find out if people are sincere or insincere.

Here are responses now as we continue dealing with common objections and common questions regarding the Christian faith. Here's the next one in our series of 10 that we're just giving coffee shop answers to. This one is: "Being a good person is all that really matters." That's a really common idea propagated by many in our culture and many around the world. How do you get to heaven? Be a good person. But is that really what it means to be able to be in a right relationship with God?

The reality is no one is good but God, and Jesus tells us this in the gospels. The reality is no one is good but God, and the reality is that all have sinned and fall short of God's glory. So the question is, how good is good enough to get to heaven? The simple answer is no one is good and no one is good enough. In fact, the Bible says that the wages of sin is death, and the Bible is very clear that if we sin one time, we've broken the entire law. We are deemed lawbreakers. The Bible tells us that as lawbreakers, or in other words as sinners, the wages of sin is death. What we deserve is death. That's why Jesus came. He is the only one who is good. Only God is good. The Lord Jesus, the righteous one, died on the cross and rose again from the dead.

God is good and provided Jesus Christ to be a sacrifice for our sins, but there's more. He not only died on the cross; he rose again on the third day, conquering the power of sin and the power of death. So being a good person is not what it takes to get to heaven because, number one, no one is good and no one is good enough. Only God is good, and God in His goodness sent Jesus Christ to die for us and rise again from the dead. Through faith in Him, we could be forgiven and be reconciled to God and be gifted the gift of abundant life and eternal life. That's how we get to heaven. As you're listening to my voice, if you're trusting in your goodness to get to heaven, hopefully you're convicted in your heart and you realize, wow, I thought my goodness and my good deeds can get me to heaven. There's no good works that can justify us before a holy, righteous God. It is our faith in the Righteous One whose righteous work can make us right in the eyes of God, not through anything that we can do, but faith in what the Lord Jesus has done.

I hope that's helpful to you, but that's a common response or answer to the Christian life. "Being a good person is all that really matters." I hope that's been helpful to you.
