When God wanted us to understand how He cares for us, He gave us the picture of a shepherd tending his flock. Shepherds...they do much more than guide their sheep to sources of food and water. Like mice in a maze, today's power brokers run around, certain that they hold in their hands the destiny of the world. They have no clue that far beyond their machinations lies a God who is the real power broker. In a future day, there will be one king and one king only on this earth, and His name is Jesus. No more politics as usual...the kingdom will have arrived.

These days, conspiracies are all the rage. Politicians speak of vast conspiracies to undermine their points of view. But the real conspiracy is that of the nations of the world in revolt against God. Everywhere you look, the Christian faith is under attack. Governments cater to radical Muslims, but Christians are fair game. It seems the world has gone topsy-turvy, and many ask the question, "Is God really in charge?" Today, Dr. Lutzer traces some blatant attacks on Christians, but then takes us to the Bible for the assurance that, despite all we see around us, God is still in control.

For many families, Thanksgiving gets everybody involved. Mom cooks, Dad carves the turkey, and the kids set the table. In the days of Jesus, ten lepers were miraculously healed. But only one got involved enough to thank the One who had healed him. Is it any different today? Thanklessness...it is a sign of a heart that does not know the God who sustains us every minute.

This is supposed to be the busiest week for travel in the entire year. At Thanksgiving, everybody wants to go back home. We want that turkey dinner, and we want to share it with loved ones. Some of us actually want to give thanks for God's provision during the past year. When ten lepers were healed by Jesus, only one bothered to say thanks. Are you among the nine, or are you the one?

It was Shakespeare who wrote, "How like a serpent's tooth is a thankless child." Indeed, ingratitude cuts like a knife. Our forefathers knew Who had brought them across the sea to a new homeland, and they knew to Whom they owed thanks. In a more godly era, Thanksgiving was made a federal holiday. So, are we truly thankful? Today: the story of one among ten men who gave God thanks.

We can still enjoy July 4 fireworks, but for many Christians, the liberties we celebrate are now being sharply curtailed. Under pressure from agenda-driven groups, what was once free speech is now a federal crime. In the public schools, tax money is used to indoctrinate our kids in the homosexual lifestyle. Is there a time to stand up and say "no?" Dr. Lutzer says "yes."

Someone has said that nothing is certain except death and taxes. Throughout all of history, governments have been taking your money. In Jesus' day, tax collectors were despised. After all, they took Jewish cash and gave it to the hated Roman occupiers. The wisdom of Jesus was never more clear than when He answered the question of who owes what to whom. Today: our true loyalties.
